Is there a western version of yoga?

Is there any tradition in the west that is similar to yoga? Im asking for something that is at least as old as Yoga itself

A little bit too much attraction...

Ok, so firstly, I feel awful for this, but I jut can't help myself. I literally fell in love with a client and I think it’s mutual. He has 2 kids and a beautiful wife. It may not be the best place to post this but I need to vent somewhere. I think I'm the only reason he keeps showing to my yoga classes. I won’t do anything, but it’s so hard to not think of him.

Non-leggings yoga bottoms

Hi everyone, I’m looking for recommendations for yoga pants that are not tight leggings. I find these to be quite uncomfortable and that it’s more difficult to relax, as I’m very conscious of how my body looks in them. Does anyone have good products or shops that carry looser, comfortable trousers for doing yoga? Thank you :)

Ashtanga Yoga Schools

Hello, I am looking to do my 200 hour certification in ashtanga. I'm wondering what are the best schools in the world. I am hearing a lot of Rishikesh, India as a preferred place, but there are so many options. Please help!

Arms getting bulky?

I've been taking yoga classes thrice a week since the past 2 years and mostly do vinyasa, sometimes it goes into the power yoga territory. While it's really helped me strengthen my body and core, I've noticed lately my arms are becoming more muscular but bulky instead of toning up. I'm naturally on the thinner side and my arms used to be quite skinny. While I do want some muscle, I still want them to be more toned and defined rather than bulking up, I've found myself no longer wearing tank tops because I feel like my body has started looking a bit disproportional because of my arms since I'm still thin and petite otherwise. What can I incorporate in my fitness or diet to keep my arms musculer but tone them up a little more?

How to keep time whilst focusing on breathing?

I have bought a yoga book which has suggested routines in the back which I would like to try, in a single routine, you might be instructed to hold one particular pose for 15 seconds, whilst another you are instructed to hold for 45 seconds. During the poses the emphasis should be on breathing in and out to get 'deeper' into the pose so that's what I want to focus on. How can I ensure I am doing the poses for the right amount of time if I am focusing properly and not constantly looking at a clock?

I had a rough time in class today. 🙁

I’ve been practicing consistently for 2 1/2 years now. I have a stressful job as well as depression and anxiety disorder, and it has helped tremendously. I am thankful for what Yoga has done for my mind, spirit and body. Today I had an upsetting day after finding out some sad news about one of my close friends, but I was thankful because it was my favorite yoga class/instructor and I know I could work through things. I went and had a wicked hard time. I lost my flow. My balance was off, I didn’t feel as strong or as confident, and found my mind wandering. I’m sad that this has happened, but it has happened before. I will go back and just keep trying until I find my flow back.
