We had a pretty big scare yesterday with Gus. After a trip to the emergency vet they think he had a major allergic reaction to a bee sting or a spider bite. My mama heart was pounding the entire time but I’m so thankful they were able to help him & he’s home now recovering. With some meds, rest & lots of extra snuggles he should be back to himself in no time. Just passing through today to share one of my favorite crops I’ve ever grown: Astilbe! I bought these as bareroot last spring. They were planted but didn’t produce flowers. I wasn’t sure how they were going to overwinter but they did beautifully without any protection in zone 4b. They’re grown in full Sun, but I covered them with a 30% shade cloth and I’m beyond happy with how the crop turned out. They variety us called “Vision Inferno”. I don’t really love the name, they’re on the shorter side but the color and stem strength and fullness are all irreplaceable! Swipe for zoom.
