Yesterday was the first day of my EMERGE Workshop. This is a class where we dive deep into why we design the way we do. We covered Color Theory, Texture, Proportion and Scale and so much more. We got to make Boutonnieres and Corsages as part of the Texture theory, and these are a few of them. They turned out so freaking cute. This is the last class of the year, and I can’t wait to host more next year! Stay tuned for dates. #theflowerhatworkshop #boutonniere #wedding #weddingflowers #floraldesign

now that it is prime dahlia season, let’s walk through the best way to style these top heavy beauts: 1. Add cold water to your vase of choice. You’ll want to make sure the vase in on the taller side as dahlias tend to be top heavy. 2. Evenly disperse your dahlias, trimming each stem at a 45 degree angle. 3. Enjoy your beautiful dahlias for days to come! Remember to continually refresh your vase water every 2-3 days 💕 4. ✨Pro tip✨ the hot water method works for dahlias as well! Simply stand your stems in an inch or so of hot water (110 degrees Fahrenheit) and leave them there until it cools. Then you are good to return them to your vase with fresh water and flower food.

The dahlias put on quite a show this year. Today is day 2 of our “EMERGE” workshop and while I hoped that we had saved the dahlias for it, unfortunately, the field got hit a little harder than we had anticipated. The sprinkler technique works, I just think we didn’t run them long enough to drench the plants before the frost came. We’ll see if they bounce back in the next few weeks, fingers crossed. Pictured here is Dahlia “Julio” (no, I didn’t name it). This patch was quite the sight this year! Happy Tuesday Folks! #flowers #dahlia #dahliafield #dahliatubers #flowerfarmer #farmerflorist

On 19 September we will be closing as a mark of respect for the funeral of Her Majesty The Queen. We will open again on 20 September. If you have a pre-booked ticket for this date, we'll be in touch via email with more information. https://t.co/v9YcjzD9yj

with summer coming to a close, it is almost time to say goodbye to this seasonal burlap-wrapped arrangement. alas, don't cry, shopgirl, that means fall arrangements are soon to be on our shop just around the corner. give this bright beauty one last "thank your" before we put on our fall sweaters and swap out our palettes 🎨
