#SafeWater, sanitation & hygiene are basic requirements for human health. Over 2 billion people have gained access to safe drinking-water 🚰 in the past two decades. However, at least 2 billion people use a drinking-water source contaminated with faeces 💩. Many homes, healthcare facilities & schools lack soap & water for handwashing. This puts the health of all people – but especially young children – at risk for diseases such as #diarrhoea. An estimated 829000 people die each year from diarrhoeal diseases that are caused by unsafe drinking-water, poor sanitation & lack of hand hygiene. WHO works with governments to improve access to safe drinking-water. Everyone, everywhere, must have access to safe water. #WHO75 #HealthForAll 📸 (in order) - Students analyze water from a tap during a training course in Kathmandu, #Nepal, 1957 WHO / Eric Schwab - A health supervisor in #Pakistan demonstrates how to make oral rehydration solution, 2018 WHO / Asad Zaid
