Miep Gies, the last survivor of a small group of people who helped hide Anne Frank and her family, died at age 100 on #ThisDayInHistory in 2010. After the Franks were discovered in 1944 and sent to concentration camps, Gies rescued the notebooks that Anne Frank left behind later published as “Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl.”

The last vote needed to pass the 19th amendment - women's suffrage - in the US came from a previously anti-suffrage politician. His mother had written him a note telling him to "be a good boy" and ratify the amendment. He did.
