Sybil Ludington is known as the female Paul Revere. According to family traditions first documented over a century later, on the night of April 26, 1777, 16-year-old Sybil rode nearly 40 miles to warn some 400 militiamen that the British troops were coming. Much like Paul Revere, Ludington’s message helped Patriot leaders prepare for battle… but Ludington was less than half Revere’s age and rode more than twice as far to carry her warning. #WomensHistoryMonth Learn more about Sybil Ludington by visiting the link in our bio.

No history of rock 'n' roll would be complete without mention of Sister Rosetta Tharpe, the gospel singer who picked up an electric guitar in the 1940s and helped carve a path later walked by the likes of Elvis Presley and Chuck Berry. When virtually no women were fronting a guitar solo act, Tharpe was on the cutting edge. To honor Tharpe, famed guitar maker Gibson is now offering a line of Tharpe merchandise. In a press release, the company said it was partnering with the late artist’s estate for a “limited-edition lifestyle and accessories collection,” including T-shirts, a tour jacket, pennants, and, naturally, a guitar—a 61st-anniversary edition of the Les Paul SG preferred by Tharpe (which retails for $6700). Story at the link in our bio. #accessibility text: Photo of Sister Rosetta Tharpe singing on stage with a guitar with text that reads: Gibson Is Paying Tribute to Sister Rosetta Tharpe, the Godmother of Rock, With a Line of Merchandise
