It’s time for #FossilFriday—and we have some new research to share! A recent study led in part by Museum Curators John Flynn and Jin Meng reveals that in the first 10 million years following the non-avian dinosaur die-out, mammals bulked up, rather than evolving bigger brains, to adapt.💪🧠 Previously, it had been widely thought that mammals’ relative brain sizes increased over time in the wake of the wipeout. But the new findings show that compared with their body weight, the size of mammals’ brains initially decreased after the extinction. Read more about their findings, recently published in the journal sciencemagazine, in our latest blog post--link in bio! #research #paleontology #mammals #fossils #brains #brawn #evolution #museums #amnh #STEM #NewResearch
