Take a closer look at this photo. 👀 Does it look a little strange to you? That's because it wasn't taken in a real savanna — it was actually taken in a museum! Hyper-realistic dioramas — like this one from Chicago's Field Museum depicting hyenas in Somalia — are half art and half science. And they require extreme accuracy to create their illusion. "I build time machines," says artist Aaron Delehanty (delehanty.loud.cow). By consulting with botanists, zoologists, anthropologists and archaeologists, he works to ensure that each of his creations is totally true to life — down to the rocks and plants on the ground and even the stars in the sky. To see how Delehanty researched and created this piece — plus other images of his painstakingly detailed work — visit the link in our bio. Image: John Weinstein / The Field Museum (fieldmuseum)
