When Keiko Neutz - a mother of eight and grandmother to 38 grandchildren and great grandchildren - was diagnosed with Covid-19, her granddaughter Lacy Taylor installed Houseparty on a laptop and gave it to staff at her hospital. It meant the whole family could dip in and out of the 'house' to keep her company, and they were all able to be by her side virtually during her final hours. It wasn't how they wanted to say goodbye, but it was far better than not being able to say goodbye at all. One of the cruellest realities of this pandemic has been that so many families have been unable to be at the side of their loved ones, many of whom have passed away alone. But thanks to social media and video calling, some people have at least been able to say a final farewell. The street artist's 'Game Changer' - which originally appeared at Southampton General Hospital last year to celebrate health workers - sold at auction today for the highest fee ever paid for his work. Mariusz Kaminski has been jailed for 16 months for perverting the course of justice and fraud by false representation after messaging his boss to say he was being held against his will, sparking a huge police investigation and a search from friends. In October 2017, the 36-year-old claimed he had been snatched after three men allegedly grabbed him and threw him in the back of a white BMW before he managed to escape, but it later turned out he hadn't been kidnapped at all and had actually been messaging his manager from his home in Trowbridge, Wiltshire. 🔗 Link in bio for the full story.
