Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern says the changes will help support the country's most vulnerable π The minimum wage is rising by $1.14 to $20 (Β£10.13) an hour and will effect an estimated 175,500 workers. Meanwhile, those who earn more than $180,000 a year - around 2% of New Zealanders - will see their tax rate rise from 33 to 39%. The changes will be rolled out on Thursday, alongside small increases to unemployment and sickness benefits, and follows the news last week that the country will now offer bereavement leave to parents who have experienced a miscarriage or stillbirth.

Director Bernard Donoghue said: "In the past 14 months, most of our members have been closed for every bank holiday, and therefore we continue to ask the government to introduce a new bank holiday for 2021 at the end of September to thank the NHS and key workers and help the tourism industry repair our balance sheets." π Link in bio for the full story.
