One of the most incredible characteristics of #hummingbirds is how they fly. Hummingbirds are the only type of birds that can truly hover. They can achieve this feat because of how their wings move. Hummingbirds do not move their wings in a linear forward-and-backward fashion as other birds do but, rather, in a figure eight. This advanced design allows the bird to hover and move in any direction, including backwards! Pictured, is a Ruby-throated hummingbird spotted in shenandoahnps showing how it’s done! Learn more about their wing movement by clicking on the link in our profile. 📸N. Lewis #wildlifewednesday #birds #flight #shenandoahnationalpark

Just kicking it 😎 #EarthCapture by sandysharkeyphotography Wild mustang stallions (Equus ferus caballus) are identifiable by their larger, crested necks and muscular bodies. Typically stallions are known to be more aggressive and exhibit territorial behaviour. In the wild, they will form bachelor herds with other young stallions or if they're lucky, family herds with mares and offspring. . . . . #bbcearth #mustang #wildstallion #wildhorses #mammals #landmammals #amazingphotography #wildlife #wildlifephotography #naturephotography #amazinganimals #nature #naturelovers #earth #earthlovers

This year we’re going WILD about beetles with @The_RHS! Habitat loss, climate change and pesticide-use mean that life is hard for these gorgeous insects. BUT you can help them with your free guide. Download 👇 https://t.co/6dxZSjj7Is #WildAboutGardens 🪲🐞 https://t.co/2HDSGWxl4z
