Olivia Newton-John has died at 73, her husband says. The singer revealed in 2018 that she was treating cancer at the base of her spine. It was her third cancer diagnosis, following bouts with breast cancer in the early '90s and in 2017. Thanks to a string of country and soft-rock hits, Newton-John was already a popular singer by the late 1970s. But her co-starring role opposite John Travolta in 1978's "Grease" lifted her to a new level of stardom. Over her lengthy career, Newton-John won four Grammy Awards and sold more than 100 million albums. Senate Democrats Push Through Landmark Climate, Health and Tax Bill The Senate passed legislation on Sunday that would make the most significant federal investment in history to counter climate change and lower the cost of prescription drugs. The measure, which can allow the U.S. to cut greenhouse gas emissions roughly in half by 2030, would inject more than $370 billion into climate and energy programs. The legislation, while falling far short of the ambitious $2.2 trillion Build Back Better Act that the House passed in November, fulfills multiple longstanding Democratic goals, including countering the toll of climate change on a rapidly warming planet, taking steps to lower the cost of prescription drugs and to revamping portions of the tax code in a bid to make it more equitable.
