ANTI-RACISM ACTIVITIES FOR KIDS Books are an amazing way to get the conversation started about race and racism. But since Iām an activity mom šš¾āāļø I put together a list of 20+ activities that can also help to spark the conversation. {See the full list using the link in my profile}. Pair them with a book or do them on their own. Use them as a tool to create the space and time for anti-racism conversations to happen in your home or grandparentsā home or classroom or daycare today, tomorrow, next week, next month... And remember doing reading the books and doing activities is just the beginning. AGE: 2 years + MESS LEVEL: low DIFFICULTY TO CREATE: easy SKILLS DEVELOPED: compassion, anti-racist beliefs & actions, colour recognition, language development, hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills, imaginative play, creativity. _____________ PLaY šCReaTivEly #happytoddlerplaytime

Anyone elses kids driving them crazy during this pandemic?
I have two kids and am currently pregnant with my third. I have always been full time working mom and this pandemic has flipped my life up side down. Instead of going to work everyday and my kids going to daycare/school - we're now together all day every day. Even after almost a year of this I have not been able to adjust. At times I feel like I wasn't cut out to be a mom. I cannot keep up with their attention demands. It's mentally exhausting. I love them to death but I wish I had time away from them like I used to.

Need help with a repair task around the house? I'd be happy to help.
Hi folks, My name is Brian and I'm a 24 year old son of a single mother. Growing up we frequently had problems with things around the house breaking and nobody knowing how to fix them. My mom would usually either call a repair person or replace the item which would result in increased financial hardship. Well as I got closer to and then further in adulthood I became the man of the house and learned how to do home repairs, even working as a contractor for a short time. I would be absolutely thrilled to help any single parents who have any technical issues, be it home repair, computers, anything (most likely just a video chat diagnosis and instructions on my part but I can help you do repairs yourself and save a boatload) I'm also studying electromechanical engineering so don't be afraid to ask if you think your issue is too complicated.

Itās wild how there are people who believe conspiracy theories without evidence but will dismiss a thorough explanation with sources of systemic racism. Thatās how fucked up white supremacy is and we need to crush it.

He turned himself in
I got a call from the police that my husband turned himself in for all the violations of the order of protection over the past few months. The detective asked me how long we were married, and at first I said 15 years, but then I remembered that 2020 ended (hallelujah!) and our anniversary is today. 16 years. I couldnāt stop laughing when I realized today was our anniversary. I think seeing the photo of him in custody was one of the best presents I couldāve received today.

Did anyone have a traumatic first birth and an easy second birth?
I had a really negative birth experience five months ago with my first. Thankfully we are both healthy, which is the most important thing, but I canāt do another birth like that one. My husband and I ideally are planning to have at least three kids, and Iām assuming that at some point this feeling of not wanting to go through it again will fade and Iāll feel ready to give it another go. But the more time that passes the more unsure I am this will happen. There has been no change in how I view my delivery over the past five months. I would love to hear stories of people who had traumatic first births and then went on to have smooth, uncomplicated, easy second birth. Please share your stories with me!

What do I do to keep a 15MO toddler in the same living room entertained with me?
I have all the toys, I've moved my computer into the living room, I sit on the floor with him, I have a babygate blocking the exit to other rooms... yet he doesn't care for Peppa Pig, Daniel Tiger, Thomas and Friends. I have siberian in the husky in the same room but all he does is bark at the kid. I just can't win. All he wants to do is run around the house and play with a small dog that's not all that friendly. I have all the things baby proofed so in some ways I feel I can let him run around without worrying too much... but that really only lasts 5 minutes. I'M SO TIRED!!!

What to tell 10 year old about teachers
Today my 10 year old son asked me why at school teachers are only nice and never fuss on kids who are rich or parents are teachers. What do I tell him? We live in a small town and things have always been like this, and always will be. I suggested he write his teacher an email and point blank ask her. He thought that was good idea, we havenāt done it yet, but he still wants to know why itās like this. Iāve tried explaining to him thatās just how the world works, but he doesnāt quite understand that if you arenāt in a position to do something for someone else they donāt care about you. How do I explain this, and should he email his teacher and call out her biases?
