As teachers strive for equity in and out of the classroom, we must reflect on and honor the diversity of our students. Even more, we must recognize and contend with our identities as settlers on the Indigenous lands of North America. @sayuri_neko @EdSurge https://t.co/1sNrERj5J8

Saying 'thank you' for dinner?
Is it unreasonable to expect a "thanks" when your spouse cooks you a fresh, from scratch home cooked meal? I can't imagine someone putting a plate of food down infront of me and not saying thank you for it. I've told my husband before that it'd mean a lot to me to get a thank you. It's just polite and acknowledging the effort. He still never does. He says he wouldn't expect it from me if he were to cook, so he never thinks to. Does anyone else's husband never give a courtesy "thanks" when served dinner? Or am I the only one?

Universal Childcare call to arms! -Mod Approved
Hello friends! I wanted to spread the word about Universal Childcare and how a handful of parents from /r/workingmoms have decided enough is enough. We're in the beginning stages of banding together to fight for real change. Are you interested in joining the cause? Do you know someone that would be? Send me a PM for the info to join us on Wednesday, Jan 18 at at 8pmE//7pmC//5pmP Here's the super cool graphic with some information that we've made! https://imgur.com/a/vBFqRys Also, join us at our super new subreddit /r/UniversalChildcare --- Finally, since this *is* Science Based Parenting, I was hoping you lovely folk would have information on the effects of universal childcare, the effects lack of available child care has on families, or any additional resources you think would be helpful. ♥

What Practical Gifts Parents will ACTUALLY Use?
My SIL will have a girl in April. My eldest brother is the father; it's the first baby among our siblings, neither myself or my other brother know what sort of gift to give. For Christmas, I bought them a bunch of diapers of different sizes. In that realm they are stocked. My brother wants to buy a Diaper Genie Elite. What sort of gifts can I give to my SIL that has practical use?

What is a feel good moment for you as a parent?
Reading lots of negative on the webs today. I figured, why not dig up something positive? So... what is something that's happened for you as a parent that was a fell good moment? Could involve your own kids, someone else's, a happening that went from bad to good, etc. We need to lighten this Friday the 13th up.

waking up from naps to feed
This should be obvious, but it's not computing in my head. I'm breastfeeding on demand/at least every two hours during the day. How is my 5 week old supposed to nap for more than 45 min to an hour if after by the time she's asleep, the clock is ticking to the next time to eat? Do you wake your baby up or let them sleep? Do things really need to be this rigid?

Birth Control for 14yr old
Hey parents. I need some thoughts and advice for birth control for my 14yr old. I haven't been on or needed birth control for 15 years. This means that I have NO IDEA what's going on with birth control these days. I don't think the/a pill would be a great idea for her because of having to remember to take it everyday. What other kinds of birth control would be good for me to read up on?

Packing-away-newborn-clothes-for-the-last-time Blues
My last baby is up 3lbs from birth and firmly out of newborn clothes. I shed a few tears as I was removing them from her dresser earlier today. Our family is complete and there won’t be any oopsie babies since my tubes are now gone… I just feel so sad.

I got ghosted…
Using my throwaway for this confession. I was supposed to go on a date tomorrow but the guy never finished setting up plans with me and isn’t responding. However I already arranged for my mom to babysit, so I’m going to say I’m still going on the date and go to a movie instead. It’s an old movie at one of those theaters that has a full menu with table service and comfy recliners. I think I’m more excited about actually getting to go see a grown up movie (my last three movie theater trips have been to see movies my kid wanted to see) than I was about the date!

Baby smells like deli meat?
Not sure if this is the right place for it but here it goes. My son is 10 months old. The past two or three days he has smelled like deli meat to me. Specifically, salami. He gets a bath every night, he doesn’t have any food under his neck or behind his ears and I wash his hands after every meal. I feel like it is coming from his breath but can’t be 100% sure. The only thing I’ve given him consistently is red kidney bean and roasted garlic hummus, but I gave this to him last week too and I didn’t smell anything. I’m also not pregnant, I took a test this morning lol So. Am I going crazy? Is there any kind of health condition that could cause this? Or is it maybe the garlic in the hummus?
