Am I doing it wrong? yoga is causing my carpal tunnel to flair up.
I started doing 30 days of yoga with Adriene and downward dog causes my carpel tunnel to flair up so bad but idk why. It hasn't bothered me in a while and I wasn't expecting it. I know what I can do medically but like is there a better/ safer way to put my weight on my hands? I feel like I'm just doing it wrong and I've been doing the yoga so I'm proud of myself for that but I don't want to hurt myself on accident.

Yoga when you're tired
Some days I come back from work very exhausted, like the only thing I can do is be on the couch. It happens 1-2 a week because my activities are particularly energy-consuming that days. The dilemma is, should I force myself to practice or should I just take a rest? What's most beneficial? I want to practice "listening to my body" but at the same time I've been historically inconsistent with physical activity so I wouldn't want to indulge again in the same patterns. Thoughts?

Knee Pain: What Am I Doing Wrong?
Hi all, I have been practicing for \~4 years, but this is the first time I've had lingering single leg knee pain. It seems to get painful when I stretch out my leg by extending the back of the knee (making it straight, possibly locking the joint but not always) in a weighted pose like plank or down dog. It also hurts in lesser-weighted poses like when I extend my a top leg in leg raises -- perhaps I'm bending/extending it too far towards straight? It also hurts when I'm on my back leg in crescent lunge -- even if I'm bending the knee a bit and not locking the joint to get more opening in my back. What am I doing wrong? How can I both practice better without pain and rehab my knee? Thanks so so much in advance.

Yoga suggestions for my mother
Hello. I am looking for some suggestion for YouTube guided yoga practices for my mother. She is overweight, had a heart attack a year ago, and has limited mobility. I have got her a mat and some blocks to assist with this. Thank you in advance for the suggestions! Hope to get her into this practice daily as I am.

Emotional in hip openers?
I went to a class today focused on hip openers and ended it feeling very emotional. This is not my first time experiencing this and I have also heard people say that hip openers bring up dormant emotions, though I am wondering what the reason for this is/where this idea came from. I’ve definitely heard the idea being discussed in yoga spaces a lot and am wondering if it came from a specific text and/or guru.

Can't breathe in Hasta Uttanasana?
Hello! I've tried searching for answers to this, but didn't find anything that matched the specifics of what I'm experiencing. I've been doing yoga asanas for about five years. About six months ago, I added Surya Namaskar to my practice. I am always unable to breathe in Hasta Uttanasana. Even the smallest amount of bend leaves me unable to breathe as I am struggling so much to remain in the posture. However, I have absolutely no problem whatsoever breathing in poses like Ustrasana or Chakrasana, and these poses are easy for me to do. That is what confuses me. Might anyone have any insight? Thank you so much!

Can you break in a Manduka pro only by using it?
I have a new Manduka Pro and with the weather bad during winter I wanted to see if anyone successfully broke in the mat by only using it vs the salt.

Recommendation request: retreats owned/led by South Asian and/or BIPOC yogis?
Hi all - I want to book a yoga retreat this year and I’m cognizant of how many retreats are led by western white women. Absolutely no shade on western white women - I am one - but I would prefer to give my money to yoga teachers of South Asian descent, or from marginalized communities, to help alleviate (or at least not add to) some of the cultural appropriation and social barriers to yoga in western culture. Another limitation on my retreat search is distance - I’d like it to be less than 6-10hrs of travel time each way from California, so ideally Central America, Caribbean, US, or Canada. I can only take a week off, so flying all the way to India is too limiting in that time frame. Anyone have any tips on where to search, or tips for specific teachers/retreats? I’ve been searching for a while and really struggling to find anything that fits the bill. Any tips are appreciated!
