One Stanford psychologist says empathy can be developed, like a muscle. He thinks that could affect the world positively not only at the individual level, but in things like school discipline and police training. @Kschwart https://t.co/VOaokuG8VB

Am I just lazy and weak or is parenting seriously this f*cking hard
Ya'll - I'm sending an SOS. I am drowning. My 2 year old is really sick with COVID. I am really sick with a lung infection after finally shaking off COVID. My husband is sick with the flu. We are just surviving on subpar oven french fries and freeze pops watching peppa the pig all day. Please tell me others go through this and think parenting is awful but they just never let the words leave their mouths. Why am I the only one over here complaining😖

Husband keeps pushing formula supplementation...
And there is nothing wrong with my supply! I pump 3 times a day and get anywhere from 6-10 ounces per pumping session and then the remainder of his feeds are straight from the breast - yet, my husband keeps bringing up, "well, when we start giving him formula" - WE DON'T NEED TO GIVE HIM FORMULA! I'm about to backhand this man /s

Did you require family that visited your newborn to have the Tdap shot?
Hi all! We are soon to be parents that are looking for advice from this very helpful Reddit forum. When you had your newborn, did you require family that would be seeing the baby for an extended period of time to get the Tdap vaccine to protect it from whooping cough? We know it is likely to be a sensitive subject with in-laws, so we wanted to see what others did in their situation and how it was handled. Thanks so much!!

Starting solids; MIL insists for force feed
Hi reddit! My 6.5 month has started solids, but it's been a rough go so far. We've tried purees (oatmeal cereal, banana mash, apple sauce), as well as some BLW for cheese and apple bits. Every food interaction results in an absolute melt down. Based on everything I've read, I need to go at my daughter's pace and not force her to eat. My MIL insists that we should be forcing my daughter to eat and that "all babies need to be forced". I disagree and have not allowed her to feed my child. I am a FTM and welcome any insights from veteran parents here! Is it true that all babies cry when starting solids?

“How did you know that happened?”
I was sitting on the sofa and turned to my husband saying, “hey, kiddo isn’t in the kitchen, you better go check the bathroom. I think something is up.” Husband gets up and checks and all I hear is “oh no, there’s poop everywhere.” He cleans it up, along with kiddo, and comes out and says “how did you know that happened?” I go “I’m a mom, I drink and know things.”

Any tips on hiding peanut butter in baby food?
My 5 month old has been told by his allergist that he needs to eat 2-3 tsp of peanut butter a day to help prevent peanut allergies. That's fine and dandy, but little man KNOWS when we give it to him. We have tried it in milk, in oatmeal, in mashed banana, with PB2 instead of real peanut butter and each time he tastes it, he refuses to eat anymore. Anything else we can try and hide it in?

Is it normal for a 10 month old baby not to like cuddling?
Just curious, my daughter is 10 months and she's pretty independent and always on the go. I wondered what other people's 10 month olds are like? I wondered if it's just her personality? I also wondered about how some people let their children cry it out vs breastfed or rocking to sleep.. my daughter self soothes by sucking on her arm and falls asleep on her own but just makes me wonder does she not like to cuddle because she wasn't falling asleep with me? Nothing wrong with her not wanting to cuddle either I'm letting her do her thing just curious but of course she's super adorable so it makes me sad that she doesn't want to be affectionate but hoping this is normal and just her being curious and wanting to explore. Mom guilt is real and it's hard not to over think every little thing I just want the best for her and I end up wondering did I do something wrong. I love her so much. Also wondering if other babys suck on their arm to self soothe? She never liked pacifiers.

How do y'all even have more than one child?
Seriously though. I am running on caffeine to function, my 7 weeks old daughter is a screaming goblin who does not want to sleep. Other than feeling horrible for not enjoying motherhood, whilst my feed on Facebook is full of posts about the joys of motherhood (seriously, has everyone had a unicorn child who sleeps 12 hrs a night?), I am petrified at the idea of repeating this hell with another kid in the future. I always wanted more kids, but I hate newborn stage. I hate the lack of sleep, I hate the post partum stage, and I hate that everyone keeps asking me when I will have another one. Seriously, how do you all have more kids? Will I magically forget about this horrible newborn stage?

5 month old still eating every 2.5 hours ( including at night)
As the title says, my 5 month old LO eats every 2.5-3 hours including at night. I would love to sleep more than 2.5 hours at a time. I think part of the problem is that he can only stomach about 3 oz with each feed. I've tried increasing the amount of milk in each bottle by 10 ml but he just stops drinking and pushes the bottle away, wasting the hard earned pumped breast milk or just spits it up. He is a healthy weight. I see a lot of articles saying that they could start sleeping longer stretches at night at about 4-6 months of age but if he dropped a feed or two he would only be getting 24 oz of milk a day. I'm not really sure what to do to get him sleeping longer stretches.

Today is not going well
My almost 3 week old has been up for 5 hours and counting He is fed and we have tried almost every technique to get him to nap. He is super overtired and my wife just broke down crying. I have no fucking clue what to do and it pains me that my wife feels like a bad mom. What the fuck.
