My mom just texted me to tell me about the bad weather and the storm about to hit my area. She lives across the country but always knows what’s going on in my town. Parenting doesn’t stop when your kids turn 18 or live thousands of miles away.

Moms don't usually lose their shit because no one took the trash out again, or because there are toys and clutter everywhere, or because we have to figure out dinner again. It's all those things, compounded over days and weeks and months until we explode.

Holding our Sons accountable so they can be better a spouse/partner some day

I have been binge watching a reality show that Married two people who have never met before (don't judge me lol). One thing that has struck me, is that for some of the men, this is the first time(seemingly)they have been held accountable for their behavior and/or actions. They lie, behave aggressively, gas light, or just shut down altogether in the face of being held accountable for their actions (which are being filmed, so it's hard to deny). In any case, I think the onus is on us as parents to hold our sons to a standard of truth, and help them be comfortable with the discomfort of scrutiny. I have two boys, one on the autism spectrum and one with social anxiety. They definitely have challenges that they came into the world with, but I realized I am doing them no favour by letting things slid so they avoid discomfort, or the ability to manage emotional situations What are your thoughts?

Is it normal to revisit trauma from your own childhood when you become a parent?

Just curious if any parents out there realize things about their own upbringing/childhood when becoming a parent? My mom always talks about how I was such a good kid and I never ever threw any tantrums at all. She likes to make comments that my own toddler is needy and it’s weird that he gets upset. I’m now realizing that it’s very possible that my mom just ignored my needs and I eventually gave up. Never thought about this before but it’s strange how I see things in a total different light now that I’m a parent.

Respond To Your Child’s Anger With Kindness 웃♥웃 #parenting

My grandpa went and got his first vaccine and my kids were so excited to see pictures because they can’t even remember the last time they’ve hugged or even SEEN him and they know this is the first step to them getting so much closer to that.

We have started roller skating as a family every Saturday. It's a shit show and everyone is falling and the neighbors are laughing but it has really brought us some joy during these dark times. Family bonding looks very different right now.

Oh, you don't give your kids screens? Good for you. I'll make you a trophy after I finish these 3 chapters undisturbed while my kids play Roblox.

My 2 year old daughter said, love you for the first time.

I’m a dad of an amazing little girl that just turned two. My wife was reading to her before bed and I came in to say goodnight. She did her normal snuggling and then looked at me and said, love you. My heart instantly melted and wow that was a big moment.
