I Could Write A Dissertation on Unnecessarily Gendered Objects
Since my kids were born, I've been noticing how weirdly gendered random things are. The clothing aisle divide goes so much deeper than, "pink is for girls and blue is boys." It goes farther than ruffles being feminine and long shorts being more masculine. The weirdest things are gendered. Watermelons are feminine and apples are masculine. Ice cream is feminine. And "gender neutral" products don't help. They seem to always mean that dinosaurs are for girls, but never that unicorns are for boys. It's just all so bizarre. I could probably write a dissertation about gendering random objects.

Help for Family - Looking for Organization, canāt remember
I came across a post a long time ago that had comments about a program for families who have no support to apply for a āsurrogate familyā type situation where people come to love and support you, and CAN help take care of your kids, or just come around and be there for you. Has anyone out there heard of this sort of thing? I thought it was called Loving Kindness but google searches just give me vets and retirement homes. Location: Texas Please consider an upvote just to help me get this more visible. I have an urgent matter that a family needs help just as soon as possible.

Rule of motherhood
Rules to being a mom: 1. You are prohibited from getting sick. In the event that you do get sick, please do not expect anyone to give a shit as it is clearly your fault your child coughed directly into your mouth. You should know better. 2. Taking a shower/using the bathroom is now a team sport. Everyone is required to have equal playing time. 3. The phase āitās bedtime and time to sleepā should not be interpreted to mean that either bedtime or sleep will take place. 4. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are optional. Child retains the right to reinstate these meal times at any given moment, particularly (but not limited too) when they are suddenly āstarvingā at bedtime. 5. All rules are subject to change at anytime, without any notice, based on the temperament of the child involved, acute emotional episodes of said child, and lunar tides. Mother in question is required to telepathically understand change in said rule and act accordingly. Good luck moms.

Am I an A**hole
My daughter is 14. She hurt my feelings. Minor, nothing big. We werenāt having an argument or anything, but I let her know. Just, ā that hurtā in those words. It was over, the rest of the day went on as normal, lunch, chat, etc. I usually just let it go, I donāt hurt my kids feelings. But kids have to learn how to treat people too. And how do they do that? At home, from the people raising them. Right? She later mentioned this to her father. He tells me I was wrong for doing that and I owe HER an apology for it. I told him no, how does she learn how to treat people if she isnāt corrected by her parents when she hurts someoneās feelings? Of course now heās mad at me. Sheās confused. I think she is by far old enough. Am I the A**hole?

I, myself, am a middle aged parent and my parents will still say, "Let us know when you get home so we know you made it ok," whenever we leave their house, further proving that most parents never stop worrying about their kids.

Why do I feel like to worst parent by admitting the facts?
I don't want to be a teacher (I chose a different career direction). I am not good at teaching (my 7-year old). I am not good at teaching (supporting with distance learning). So why does admitting that make me feel like the worst parent in the world, given the current circumstances?

How Important is it for Kids to have a Activity Table
Hi there, I am looking to purchase a height adjustable activity table. Something like this one below: [https://www.amazon.com/Flash-Furniture-Rectangular-Adjustable-Activity/dp/B00K92B0H6?th=1](https://www.amazon.com/Flash-Furniture-Rectangular-Adjustable-Activity/dp/B00K92B0H6?th=1) For this table, I can see my toddler using it from Age 1 to 7, where I adjust the height and also get different chairs over time. Toddler could even stand using this table. Has anyone had experience using these type of tables, or did you just allow child to sit at the adult's table.
