Losing My Mind

I just flipped out on my family because I made everyone lunch - my daughters (2 and 5) and my husband - and then couldn’t be bothered to make myself something so I grabbed some tortilla chips and dip and sat down on the couch to have some. The kids immediately came over making their “give me some”noises despite having just finished huge lunches and I just lost it. I got up abruptly and stormed off with my snack like a child. I am suffocating and I am a bad mom. End vent.

There's a misconception that speed = skill in math. Intentional linguistic supports can allow all students to share problem-solving ideas. @TBeeneEdu @adrianmendozaed https://t.co/Hg5Ncs50Af

For those of you that’s sing to your kids, what songs do they like?

Apparently it’s good for your kids development to incorporate music and new words in their everyday life. So I want more things to sing to my daughter. I sing things that I make up and indie music but it’s time for something different. Something other than indie music. What do y’all sing to your kid(s)?

Got my girlfriend pregnant, we’re both 16.

Hello, I am a 16 year old male. I wish i was writing some sort of copy and paste story right now, but i’m not. Today I had just gotten a phone-call from my girlfriend, also 16, where she told me that she is pregnant. She said that while in the mental hospital, they ran urine tests on her and found out she was pregnant. Neither of us want to have a baby. Her mother was notified but I have yet to tell my mother anything. Our moms are pro-life. We are scared that her mother won’t allow her to have an abortion. I also now live in a different state then my girlfriend. I am scared. I don’t know what to do or how to feel about anything.

I’m now repulsed by bad dads in the wild

I think many of us experience the “wow, I find this dad wildly attractive because he’s…just being a good dad?” Welp, I found I have the opposite. We went on a play date with another couple and the mom was describing some insane weaponized incompetence from her husband. Her wording and tone made it seem like she wasn’t even surprised or upset by it. Like, if the bar for my husband is on the floor, hers is in the cellar. Later on he made some conversation with me and I almost physically recoiled from the sight of him. Witnessing him not budge a voluntary inch to help his heavily pregnant wife wrangle a toddler and preschooler…it was just…something else. Like damn, look at this shit stain of a human being, and look at this woman who has been socialized not to even flinch in the face of this or expect better. We have to do better with our sons. I hope I can do better with mine. And to raise our daughters to have ironclad standards.

To the mom making fun of the girls in “belly shirts”

What in the slut shaming fuck? It makes me sick to hear a mother and father talk about how they just want attention and maybe they should want attention for their minds and not their belly buttons with distain. Considering we are at a ski lodge, I’m not sure how many deep conversations will be happening to show off their minds. And maybe they do want attention. What’s so wrong with that? Some people like showing off their body and are having a good time. Let go of your pearls and go ski. Try teaching your kids acceptance and minding your own damn business. Oh, and maybe don’t be right on top of me slamming your helmet around while I’m working on my laptop and there are a million other places for you to get ready. And to anyone that wants to wear a crop top today, wear it with pride.

I wasn't sure how having 4 daughters was going to pay off, but it turns out I'm going to save literally thousands in trips to the salon as they have absolutely nailed my nails. It's exactly as I wanted it and because there's two of them, they did both hands in half the time! Next - gels, shellac and acrylics. On fleek and ready to face the new week. #theygotskills #nailsonfleek #fierce #fatherofdaughters #dadlife #fod

1000 hours outside challenge — any evidence?

I’ve seen this challenge going around and I was curious if anyone knows of any scientific backing behind this specific number of hours as a threshold? I’m assuming there’s definitely stuff on being outdoors in general but what about this 1000 hours specifically?

help me feel better: when your kid makes it sound like you abuse them

I do not hit or smack my three year old son but he decided to announce in public that he is scared of us (me and my husband) and that when we get mad, we will hurt him. Of course, we both freeze and ask him why he thinks that. He said that people hurt you when they are mad. We traced where he got that idea from. Apparently one of the little girls at daycare hit him and said that she hits when she gets mad. He confirmed that no adult has hurt him, only the little girl. My gosh, child, you're gonna get CPS called on us. He also likes to scream that he is scared any time we ask him to do something. Even something like going to bed or eating dinner. Anyone else have this? Please let me know I'm not alone.

Sleeping in a swing?

Someone said that babies shouldn't sleep in their swings because of the risk of suffocation but I have seen lots of parents use the swing for naps. If you check them frequently and can see they are breathing are they okay to nap there? Is there any danger if you can see that they are breathing?
