what song do you sing to your child that you really shouldn't?

For me it's the "bang bang" song from HIMYM. My baby loves it. So I'm singing her a song about banging. Reposted because spelling in the first title was wrong

14 y/o went from first kiss to sex in 7 months

My wife and I have just discovered our 14, almost 15, son is no longer a virgin. This took place with his gf of 7 months, but they broke up roughly a week after they had sex. His iPhone is as locked down as I know how to make it. No internet access, no app downloading, etc. The way we found is because he has to keep his phone in our room when he goes to bed, and my wife went through text messages of his. So when my wife did, she found very aggressive sexting with another girl. He went to her house, and after questions by us, he admitted things happened with this new girl, not sex, so he says, but idk. When my wife confronted him last night about the sexting, she also asked about the ex-gf and he said yes they did have sex. I guess I don’t really have a question, maybe more of advice, anecdotes, etc to help navigate this.

Pediatrician no longer requiring masks..

Just took my little girl who is almost 3 months to the doctor today and I was very surprised to see they’re no longer requiring masks for patients or employees. I felt like the girl at the desk was basically encouraging me to take my mask off which felt off. Don’t get me wrong I’m glad to see places being more relaxed on mask rules right now, but I was shocked that a pediatrician is on the list. I thought doctors offices would be a long way from removing mask rules. What do y’all think? Anyone else’s pediatrician doing this? If so how do you feel about it? Yay or nay

Advice for gifted child

Hi all. I've come to the conclusion that my son (8 months old) is a gifted child. Specifically, he has super-sonic hearing. He sleeps in his room with a white noise machine, but nevertheless can still hear me make myself a snack or sit down on the couch for the first time in hours, and this wakes him up. Pretty much every goddam time. Ironic, seeing as he failed his newborn hearing test initially (just fluid in his ears - he passed with flying colors on the second attempt). What I'm wondering is whether it's on *me* to figure out how to contact Professor X, or if it's more a Harry Potter situation where the instructions on how to ship him off to a really expensive-looking school arrive via bird or whatnot. Anyone out there have a similar situation or know what I should do next? No time to watch the movies and figure it out. Obviously.

Book rec’s 7th grade boy unenthusiastic for reading

Title says it all. I’m an avid reader and I buy books by the milk carton full quarterly. Just seems like nothing is really interesting to him. I’ve tried history, sports biographies, poetry, sci-fi, and some classics… He loved where the red fern grows when he read it in class but could care less about my side of the mountain or white fang which I thought he would like. Likes are sports (football, baseball, boxing, wrestling, hokey… idk all of them it seems), comic book movies, horror, some video games, playing with the dogs, pulling pranks and math/ PE is his favorite class. I’ll take any recommendations because I’m running out of ideas!!!!

“I don’t want to be black. I want to be white.”

I overheard my 8 year old niece saying this as she’s playing Roblox (?) explaining why she chose the skin tone, saying “This is why I only pick white skin for my characters because it is the prettiest skin tone.” I didn’t respond strongly, thinking that she might be factual (Maybe she doesn’t see her comments the same way I do) so I simply asked “In game or you?” And she said “Me. Look at my skin, I am black.” I do not know how to handle this subject. (I am light skinned and she’s darker skinned) My niece has been struggling with her looks lately. What resources do you guys use?

I caught my son's poop today. In my hand.

All so I didn't have to deal with changing his bath water. Like I actively reached out, and let him poop in my hand. Worthy cause? I'll let you decide.

Who else eats their kids snacks?

Am I just weird, or are some snacks for babies and children really tasty?... Rusks are yummy. Coconut rolls are yummy. Veggie straws are yummy. Please don't tell me I'm the only one that enjoys some of these little treats along my with my kids?

I can't do this.

Kicking. Screaming. Punching. Smacking. Defiance. Anger. Thinking things are a game when they're very clearly not. My son is 3, nearly 4, and he just won't fucking stop. He has never been this bad, he is normally really well behaved (well in comparison, for a 3-year-old). He has transitioned overnight from his previous behaviour to all of the above. He's starting pissing himself to avoid going to bed, he's running away from us to avoid getting changed, he won't brush his teeth or wash his hands without kicking up such a fuss that he won't stop goddamn screaming. I cannot cope. I'm convinced he's getting some of his behaviour from the other child we are living with temporarily (along with the child's parents, not just living with the child alone) because the other child acts the exact same. But I think my son is worse. I can't do it.
