Were you prepared for what parenting actually means?
I wasn't. I thought delivery would be the hardest part about it. I thought, I will just put my baby in the sling and live my life. So naive! I am the first in my family and among friends to have a child. So no "real" role models there. Noone to tell me the actual truth. Just me and my romantic idea of motherhood.

What is your need, Mom, Dad? Can you say it without negating or qualifying it? Can you go to the need under the first one that comes to mind? Any more layers? https://t.co/fk6FxtiWhs

How do you function productively in the morning w/ your kids when you’re so damn tired?
Maybe I’m just doing this stay-at-home mom thing wrong. But I’m so effing tired and I’m barely being able to be awake and fully aware with my 4yo son during the day because of bad sleeping deficits. We’re working on the practical part (getting enough sleep) and the self-discipline part (gotta stay awake even when it’s tough), but trying to get my brain to physically function when I’m just sitting on the couch while he plays with his toys is sooo hard. I feel like a zombie. I want to be able to “get up and go” in the mornings with my son, but I’ve never found a good way to make that easier. Do I just drink more coffee? Make a breakfast that no one will eat? Workout? I’m so exhausted *mentally* from trying to battle the exhaustion and be a better, more active mom. TL;DR Please tell me your tips for getting your day up and running productively, I want to build better habits and parents understand the struggle.

Just a thought
I'm not my kids playmate. I don't play with my child. They have toys, they have movies. I snuggle with them, love them, take care of them, feed them, nurture them, but I've got no interest in sitting and playing with them for hours. And I don't. And that doesn't make me a bad mother, and it doesn't make you a bad mother either.

Are night diapers worth it?
My LO has been soaking through his diapers onto his pj's every morning lately. Definitely in the right size diapers. Anyone try night diapers and can say whether or not they work??

Teacher told my high schooler that he was a mistake. Do I drop it or bring it up?
My son is a sophomore in high school. Yesterday he told his teacher that she made a mistake and the teacher responded by saying, "You're a mistake." The class laughed and my son said he shrugged it off but he admitted later that it hurt. His bio mom left when he was 2 (I was his stepmom before adopting him) and I guess it trigged some emotions about it he didn't know he had. He is okay now after we talked about it and doesn't want the teacher to get in trouble or anything. I am also a teacher in the district so I was thinking about maybe mentioning to the teacher to be more careful about what she says. My son said he doesn't mind if I say anything but isn't pressuring me to say anything. I worry more about her saying something like this to a kid who is already struggling. My oldest struggled a lot with feelings of abandonment when she was his age and I know it would have been super detrimental to hear that from a teacher.

Husband doesn't respect my concerns
My son (4) has been unwell for a while. My husband stayed home with him today. A few days ago my husband wanted to give him pepto for his diahorrea and I said no because it's not meant to be given at his age. He gave him some today anyway and then told me he did a few days ago too. He.also did it when our son was 2 and after calling poison control were told to keep an eye on him and no pepto under 12. Nice to have my concerns ignored as well as that of a professional. Out whole parenting journey is a lot of ignoring my concerns. I am so angry.

people are so weird…
I was walking into the grocery store today. As I walk walking in, this guy was walking out. He pointed at my baby “is it a boy?” I replied with a “yeah” and that was it. Dude just kept walking. Which is fine. The preferred outcome really. I’m just so confused as to why he even took the time to ask?

Should I use a maternity support belt?
Size 28 first time mom here, currently 19 weeks pregnant. I am starting to get uncomfortable so I have been considering getting one of those maternity belts/support bands because my back and sciatica has been killing me. Will it be helpful at all? Do you use one? Any recommendations?
