Be careful dads
Toddler fracture. Yep, on a slide. š My fault. He was on my lap and his rubber shoe caught the metal on the slide and went under my leg. Now he's in a cast for weeks, hopefully with no major healing complications. In the meantime he doesn't understand why he can't run around and he's incredibly frustrated by this thing preventing him from walking. It almost hit his growth plate. Little guy only ever gets hurt with me. Because, well, I'm a fucking idiot. I need to be more conscious of his safety. To dads - even though little one runs around and seems indestructible. Constantly running then falling then laughing, or hitting their head on something and being fine 1 min later. Their body's are super fragile. Be careful out there. You don't want to be in my shoes. I hurt my little guy, accident or no accident. And I feel like absolute shit. I haven't felt this bad in literally a decade. Just venting about myself being an asshole.

Is anyone with kids under 12 nervous about the mask mandate lifting?
Where I am (MD) masks are no longer required for those vaccinated in any public place except schools, healthcare, and airplanes. While Iām so glad theyāre still required in schools for the sake of my kid, letās be real. Not everyone maskless will be vaccinated. While my husband and I are vaccinated, my 5 year old cannot be. We already have limited where we take her, she pretty much only goes to stores and outdoor activities where we know everyone will be masked. No Iām afraid I have to limit it even moreā¦ I feel like weāre going backwards. I know I can continue to have my family wear masks, but if my kid is the only one in an entire store wearing a mask then her protection against covid is very minimal. What are you guys doing to cope with this?

How do I keep my toddler from learning a racial slur?
I live in a neighborhood that has a lot of black people in it, and when I take my 22-month-old to the park it's pretty common that there will be a group of kids there calling each other the n-word. They're just playing, but they're also saying it loudly and repeatedly. Y'know - exactly what you would do if you were trying to teach the word to a toddler whose vocabulary is rapidly expanding. I'm a white guy, and my 22-month-old is part-black but looks very white (like, have you seen pictures of Drake's son? Like that). I wouldn't be too bothered if she picked up a swear word in general but I'd like to avoid her walking up to someone at the park and calling them the n-word, for many very obvious reasons. She's not old enough to understand a discussion of what the word is, or the idea of bad words in general. Any tips on this?

Advocates worry that the longer these efforts take, the harder it becomes to get the word out to families whose children may qualify for additional help, and for districts to hire the staff they need to pull it off. @Chalkbeat @kalynbelsha https://t.co/i1MvPXPZ3d

Those who point a finger at single moms seem to assume that these women choose to raise children alone because they hate or devalue men. That may be true in some cases, but many women are raising children alone because a man opted out. https://t.co/Pe3n8xURpX https://t.co/eLbblbu4YR
