My 3y old upheld gender neutral roles! I'm a proud dad

My son is 3.5y old and is a typical boy that lives trains, cars, and robots. He is high energy and loves being silly and running around driving us mad at times. My wife and I aren't super woke or anything, but generally liberal. We haven't discouraged him from wanting a pair of pink skye socks (paw patrol...) and he also has pink and purple swimming goggles that he chose. So, today he went to pre-school and came back and told us a story. His best friend who is Finnish with very woke parents saw his socks and told him that pink is for girls! He replied saying, "No, pink is for everyone!" in a proud and confident manner. That brought a proud tear to me eye and feels like maybe I'm doing something right!

My kid left her house key in the front door inside alone for 5 hours.

This same child begs and pleads for more independence and argued with me yesterday to "trust her more" after I said no to a party where I knew there would be alcohol involved. Underage teens drinking. She couldn't understand why I won't let her go. She is almost 17. I gave her a house key because she promised she wouldn't lose it like the last one (had to change locks) we never found. I came home from working a 12 hour shift and her house key was in the front door with the door closed. Anyone could have walked in. You could see it from the street a mile away with her colorful glitter lanyard. Since I already talked to her last year about how dangerous it is to have a key missing, changed all the locks, and we are 2 women living entirely alone with a sexual predator 3 houses down, I think I will be hanging on to this key for a long long time.

Trick for clipping baby's nails

This works like magic for us, so I'm hoping someone else can use this. I was having a very hard time getting my baby to stay still long enough to cut her nails. She would wiggle so much I was afraid I'd get the skin. But one day, I decided to sit on the back steps with her in my lap while doing nails. She grew very still as she observed the backyard, listened to the birds, felt the breeze. It's so easy. This is how we clip nails every time now. How it helps!

Need advice - 4 year old telling me to "kill myself."

I know this probably makes me sound like an awful parent. Anyway, lately my son has been telling me to kill myself, says he's going to kill me, he asks me to hit him, he wants me to be mad at him, etc. I don't know where it's coming from or where he even heard the term "kill yourself." He does it when he's angry about something, and I can't seem to get him to stop saying it. It's like a little mini tantrum, then he'll be his happy normal sweet self 5 or 10 minutes later. Can you tell me if this is unusual, and maybe some advice on how to get him to at least stop saying he wants to kill me? If another person heard him say that I would be mortified. Thanks in advance :/

Iā€™m tired of mothering my husband.

That is all. Iā€™m just tired of being a mom to 2 little boys and an adult man. Heā€™s using PTO and will be home for a week next week and Iā€™m absolutely dreading it. The afternoons is when I have time just for me at the house between work and picking up the kids. Itā€™s hard enough cleaning up after two kids. I donā€™t want to deal with this too. Iā€™m tired of reminding him to do things and then getting up in the morning and him not having done it, but he stays up til 2am playing video games. Iā€™m tired of doing everything gift-wise and event-planning-wise for both our families. Iā€™m tired of juggling all the housework and still working outside the house 30 hours a week. Iā€™m just...tired. Why is it so acceptable for men to leave all the home/child management to women and all they have to do is work? I work too, fucker. Heā€™s heading towards a divorce so fast and heā€™s going to act blindsided even though we have had this conversation over and over every couple of months for two years. Iā€™m tired.

Is this normal at 4mo shaking his head side-to-side while sleeping? (video)

Here's a short clip of what the baby does while sleeping: https://imgur.com/a/Ra8K2eZ He keeps on rocking his head, side-to-side, for more than 30minutes at a time. He's 4mo + one week. Can't seem to find anything online about this behavior, but I'm worried it might be some neck issue? maybe he is uncomfortable? He had congenital muscular torticollis at birth, which was treated in the first months through physical therapy, he doesn't seem to have any issue with range of motion or anything else anymore. Spoke to his ped which said it might be self-soothing, and that it generally happens while starting a new REM stage. But to me it seems way too aggressive, plus it happens randomly and often. Does it out-the-blue, not necessarily at the start or end of a good sleep.

13 year old allowance

My son wants $20 a week for allowance. That he will spend on Roblox. I canā€™t justify paying for a video game like that, but I understand that is what he wants to do. He has a savings account and is a good kid. He asked me to increase it from $10 to $20 a week and I told him no and how I felt. How much do you give your 13 year olds? And, How much would you give them Robucks? **Thanks so much for the ideas! They really help to see the big picture and I love that I can get ideas so quickly by asking what everyone thinks here.

Day care or not to day care?

I have signed my LO (16 mo boy) up for daycare. I am beginning to talk myself out of it. What I can provide is a nurturing and engaging day, individua attention. I am a single parent and he has no siblings. What daycare can offer is socialization and time away from me. I am his sole companion 90 percent of the time or more. A couple of family members/friends visit weekly. I would be grateful for any input from other parents either for or against daycare. Please include information as to what your opinions are based upon. Edit: I have learned some new terms. I will search out play groups, toddler groups, etc. before committing my LO to daycare.

My 4 year old is living her own soap opera and I have to share-

I donā€™t have parent friends, so please, be my friends and appreciate the drama I witness everyday. The soap story so far- My daughter is married to Blippi. He has a brother (daughterā€™s imaginary friend) Adrien. She is dating Adrien. Adrien was in the wedding party and knows she and Blippi are married. Blippi is unaware that she is dating Adrien. Canā€™t wait to see how this progresses!
