I can’t give my kid even half the life I had as a kid
As a kid, I went on family vacations, I played with neighbor kids. As a single parent, I can’t give my kid either of those things. There are no neighbor kids around to play with. I don’t have enough to go on a lot of vacations. I feel like I failed my kid. All my kid does is play video games all the time. I feel like I ruined my kids childhood.

I can’t believe I have to ask this
My 17 month old is obsessed with chewing on window sills. She was recently lead tested and while her levels weren’t elevated the doctor said there was still trace amounts. We just moved into a house that was built in 1905, and I cannot get her to stop trying to eat the paint on the sills. Please spam me with any and all advice. I didn’t even think about this ever happening and have no idea how to baby proof. I tried clear packing tape but she chews right through it. We constantly redirect but it’s just not enough, it’s too enticing to chew the wood and eat paint apparently. Thank you!!

Covid
My husband tested positive for Covid today for the THIRD time. Once in April 2020, once in November 2020. Vaccinated in January and then boosted in September and tested positive again today. He’s a dentist so he’s high exposure. We have been so so careful and were so excited to be able to vaccinate our 21 month old. Last week I tried to get her in to our ped but they don’t carry the vaccine. Local pharmacies wouldn’t vaccinate bc she’s under 2. We were in the middle of a move so I put it off until this week. She hasn’t started with symptoms yet but I’m sure she will. He’s quarantined in the basement now but she’s been exposed at this point. I’m so worried about what is to come. Worried about severe illness, mis-c, Covid pneumonia, all the other scary things related to Covid. I need someone to talk me off the ledge 🤪 kids are usually okay, right?

I'm so sad about the U.S. Supreme Court garbage rulings
Overturn Roe, no gun regulations any more, authority figures can lead prayer in school, and now the EPA has been neutered (and other regulations are going to follow). And now they said they are taking up a case that could allow states to gerrymander however they want, and even ignore their states' popular vote. It broke me today. The bad guys won. How do you keep going? I don't even see a path forward.

Feels like my child is waking up earlier every day
My son wake up around 5-5:30 every morning absolutely balling his eyes out within 5-10 minutes of being awake. Me and my partner have tried things listed online but nothing seems to work. I just want to know if there’s something we’re missing

Does anyone else get judged for being a stay at home parent?
I feel like I get judged for that all the time, and it really hurts. My husband is the breadwinner and his hours are all over the place. We moved to a place far away from my friends and family so I can’t even leave my kids with anyone to work. Money is tight, gas money is ridiculous. So we’re home bodies. We go out to the park or supermarket but mostly we’re at home. But I feel like working moms around my house notice me at home all the time and don’t like me for it. Or even think I’m a weirdo…like I was on my porch and a woman passed by with her friend, they live a house down saw me and literally went “does she even know how to drive. She’s odd..” That one hurt.. Anyone else a homebody with their kids? Does anyone else get judged for this too or am I just the lucky one?

Got into a screaming match with a 3 year old today. Clearly I am doing really well in life.
Really I just need someone to tell me that I’m not ruining her life. I had planned to have killed myself by now so that I wouldn’t fuck her up like me but instead I got on meds and convinced myself not to but then there are days like today where I KNOW I am being a bad mom, and it’s gotta be better to have no mom than to have one that just screams right back when the 3 year old screams right? I mean…

Book recommendations to educate a 12 year old?
I have a 12 year old son who is highly troubled. He lives at a therapeutic boarding school. The school is really great for him. They are kind and loving and appreciate his good qualities. He's thriving there. His education hasn't been great, though. They do the bare minimum with school. He's super smart. He's tested at genius level intelligence. He also likes to read. I'm concerned about his education, but I'm not going to move him elsewhere. This place is so good for him. Any recommendations for books I can send him?

How do I soothe my 2 year old’s sore throat?
I have a very spirited 2 year old, and despite being as careful as possible, he contracted covid. He’s already feeling a lot better-fever has gone down, but this morning he Started getting a persistent little cough. I’ve tried giving him honey water, and he gags at it. Is there any other suggestions for ways that I can make his throat feel more comfortable?
