I feel awful D:

I was cutting my LO’s nails and accidentally clamped down on her fingertip instead. The wails that ensued broke my heart. At 11 weeks I’ve never heard her cry like that before. I feel like a terrible parent for this mistake. Husband immediately asked “what did you do?” quickly assuming it was my fault. Which in this case it was but I was already feeling terrible about it before you hit me with that condescending question. I managed to get her to calm and take a nap, but still feel like the lowest of the low for my mistake. Please tell me this happens a lot more often than I think.

Wtf do you feed your family?

The most tedious thing in my life is figuring out what to make for dinner every night. I’m in a funk right now and everything I make sucks in my opinion. I’m wondering what other people eat from night to night during an average week? Anybody mind sharing?

If you know kids are up to no good do you tell their parents?

My middle is 17 and was out with some friends last night. He came home earlier than expected and basically told me that his friends were getting high and acting like assholes so he left. Most were smoking weed but some were doing more. These aren't super close friends of his but it's kids he has known since freshman year of high school. I could contact their parents but then they would know that my son was the snitch since he was the only one to leave early. He probably won't hang out with these kids ever again anyway because they are assholes and he suspects they talk shit about him while he is there (he's Deaf and can't hear them but says he sees them looking at him and laughing sometimes) but these boys are all 18 and 17. I feel like they are getting too old for me to run to their mommy and daddy. On the other hand, we are talking about drugs. What would you do?

Baby overheating

Husband and I were outside almost all day with 12 week old baby. It was about 7 hours. We took her inside for little breaks and to feed her but she ended up falling asleep in her swaddle and it was really hot outside. We also had her in the pool to cool off (she was covered up) so she definitely didn’t get burned. She is acting fine today but I can’t shake the feeling we made a huge mistake and caused actual damage. Can anyone reassure me that no damage was done? My mom says just not to do it again for piece of mind. Thanks for any feedback!

Just my baby or all babies?

Sometimes my baby will do something and I don't know if it's specific or common. For instance, she looooves keeping her arms out and straightened. It's funny to hold her while feeding because she just wants her arms out. Does your baby do anything like that? What are their quirks?

My parents control my life

I moved out parents house at the age of 24 and bought my first home with my 7 year old my son. Things were going great until my parents showed to my house and moved there stuff in without consulting me, they told me that they did everything forever and I had no choice because if it wasn't for them I wouldn't have my career or child or home. My stepfather crashed my car and I'm without a vehicle now and he won't pay to fix it. I can't say a word to my son because apparently when I do my step father says I'm bothering him and let him be. My son is super disrespectful rude etc. Mind you my siblings I love them but they have no home training. My anxiety and depression is getting worse. I'm always told that I'm only pretending to be an adult and i can't handle life on my own. My parents are always moving and my stepfather still can't keep one job, my mom doesn't work and is always stressing but is no help.

My Ex Follows Weird Porn On Instagram

Which, in and of itself isn't that big of deal. Immature? Yes. He's very immature so it doesn't surprise me that he doesn't understand why it might be bad that everyone can see that he follows weird porn on Instagram. Literally hundreds of accounts. What really bothers me is that he posts pictures of my son in the same place. Sometimes, the raunchiest "models" even like the photos OF MY SON. So it will be a picture of my son at a baseball game and then right underneath it a like by someone with gross ass fake boobs and tattoos. Or a giant, photoshopped ass. Is there fucking anything I can do about this? We are having parenting time issues overall so we'll be seeing a mediator soon but I am just wondering if they will find this to be as disturbing as I do. This is totally weird and fucked up, right??

What age is appropriate to swim unsupervised

My son is turning 13 in 22 days. We live about 250 steps from our neighborhood pool, where there are always other adults and kids. My son thinks he should be able to walk to the pool by himself, but I don’t know… I mean, he is a great swimmer. There isn’t a deep-end. I can literally hear noise from the pool from my home. He doesn’t have any behavior issues and is respectful of others. All signs point to yes- that he should be able to go by himself, but I am just not 100% sold on it. I don’t even know if other kids his age are being supervised by an adult or not.

When someone else is watching the kids...

To whom it may concern:

(Generally dads) Sitting on the couch scrolling through your phone/watching TV while your child plays/runs amok in the same room does not constitute “quality time.” Don’t you dare say how much you missed your kid when you were working, out of town, or at the bar. The only reason she smiles so much when she sees you is because it’s so rare that she holds your attention. There’s a reason mom is the only one who can get her to sleep.
