How many of you are getting the COVID vaccine for your infants? (Under 1 years old)

Curious to see what other parents are deciding. Both parents are pro vaccines and boosted themselves, but thinking what to do at baby’s upcoming 6 month appointment (ped. office will offer it). We are concerned about a new vaccine for our young baby as clinical trials have only been 2 years, whereas the other vaccines have been studied for 10+ years. While most of the babies in the studies also had favorable outcomes, the sample size was only a few thousand kids (not just babies). I feel like that’s not a very representative sample size of all the babies in the US. But also worried about the effects of baby catching COVID too. So many pros and cons to weight. What are your thoughts?

Devestated - mom encourages weed…

I found a text on my sons phone - he is 12. He sent a message to his mom, my soon to be ex wife - telling her he was high, and that he smoked a blunt and also smoked dabs, telling her he was super high. He has always told me he was not into that and would never do it… I am devestated at the message I found. She didn’t reply, but now I know. What is the right thing to do here?

FTM (and dads), when are you all trying for #2?

Hi, I love my little guy so much that I already want another one. My baby is 4 months old and I have to wait a year to do another transfer. So, another 8 months. Realistically, with prepping the uterus, it probably won't happen until May 2023. When, if ever, are you all planning to try for number 2?

Toddler with fractured skull. Anyone else??

Friday I got a call from my daycare that a teacher was holding my son (2 yr old) and they fell and he hit his head on the concrete. They called me right away and I went straight to the ER. He has a minor fracture on the back of his head. But they didn’t seem concerned. Any parents go through this? We were admitted and sent home in 24 hours. Just looking for advice or similar stories to ease my mind.

Best device to prevent accidentally leaving a kid in the hot car?

My sister had a baby recently and for her present she said I could get her a device for the summer/beyond to ensure she never accidentally leaves the baby in the hot car. I don’t have any kids and I’m not familiar with what’s standard. Does anyone have suggestions?

Why is everything a symptom for autism?

It’s so frustrating and provokes my PPA! My 20m old son is a high energy, social boy, but once I see some random funky behavior out of him (like loving wheels), I Google it and it’s a symptom for autism. He’s passed his MCHAT at the peds and his SLP said she doesn’t see any huge markers at this time. But it makes me so worried when I see something that is developmentally normal, but is also on the list for autism indicators. Is anyone else sharing in that anxiety? 😮‍💨

5 year old said people only like people with flat tummies

FUCK. I don't know how this happened. Our kid had been having way too much sugar/treats, and even though she's in no way overweight, we knew that wasn't good, so as a family we all cut down on the sugar in the house. My husband and I both could stand to lose a lot of weight, but we've always been careful not to use the words weightloss, fat, etc around her. Just this week, I noticed her get upset when something in the supermarket was put in the cart that she deemed wasn't "healthy". So, I realized, ok, we've fucked up and need to change the world healthy to balanced. Today, out of nowhere, she just tells me "Mummy, people only like people with flat tummies" and when I asked her where she got that, she said "its just something I know." I'm heartbroken, and really uncertain what to do. I do not want to have created body image issues at 5!

White noise machine for toddler?

Hey all, we live in an apartment that has terrible acoustics- essentially anything our upstairs neighbors do is amplified to us, so even their normal walking around sounds like a giant stomping around. Not really their fault and they aren't especially loud most of the time, but my son does get woken up by the noise quite frequently. I was wondering if anyone had suggestions for a good white noise machine/soft music player for my toddlers room? Currently we have a stuffed animal that works well but only plays nature sounds for about 30 minutes before shutting off, so I was hoping someone might have some suggestions that I could start my research off with, thanks in advance!

Wide-ranging evidence – from psychology, evolutionary biology and anthropology – suggests that children have an innate desire to help others and have responsibilities. No chore chart or allowances needed. @FoodieScience https://t.co/QuApkrlzjI

The Park

I have three kids. The two small ones are hyperactive and runners. My oldest likes to play with them sometimes at the park but mostly plays alone. I feel like shit constantly for not being able to take to the park alone. Like it’s a legitimate fear because 2,3yos don’t listen at all and they’re runners. It’s hard when there’s the rare two of us going, let alone when it’s just me especially when it’s time to leave the park. Am I wrong to have this fear? Is it irrational? Constantly worried that one’s gonna get kidnapped cause a 1:3 ratio is really tough when they all wanna do different sections of the park and there’s only one of me. 7 is helpful with them but I feel guilty asking her to help me with them as the kid who was parentified and seeing my neighbours kid so parentified she apologizes to her mom for not watching her twin (half her age) brothers close enough that they escaped to the outside when she was scolded. Should I just go and see how it goes? I’m terrified.

My wife wants a new pump

What are the best wireless pumps? My wife has been not so subtly hinting that she wants a new wireless pump and I'm wondering what would be best? Money isn't an issue!

My son 2M doesn’t feel comfortable playing with other kids

He’s a covid kid, born in the heart of lockdown, and the aunt who’s a speech therapist avoided any chance of autism, but it seems my boy doesn’t like to interact with other kids. He’s attached to his mom or caretaker in daycare to much higher levels than other kids and when other kids are playing a certain place he would avoid it and only play when they leave. Should i be worried?

reverse parenting situation

We, that is me, my partner and our then to be 3 month old daughter will visit UK for the first time, so our daughter can meet part of her family. The thing is, my family expect us to stay at my dads house, which we definetly don't want to do; he cant look after himself and he's on auto destruction mode. How do I politely tell him, and my family we are not comfortable to stay at his house?
