The talented creator and writer of the show “Abbott Elementary,” Quinta Brunson, has never taught, but you might be fooled: She hits on some of the most inane and troubling aspects of public education as if she had lived it. @valeriestrauss https://t.co/t6J0CJ81u8

how possible is it to have your baby swapped in the hospital?

I have a 5 month old. I've had anxiety since I was pregnant about swapping at birth. I was all for keeping my baby girl with me at all times but I did not sleep for over 36 hrs. I was so damn tired that when the nurse came to take baby away for testing and to give her a bath I didn't care and I slept the whole time she was gone. The nurse was incredibly kind that I never thought she could potentially swap our baby, plus she took her to bathe her at night, 24 hrs after she was born and no one else had their baby at the same time I did. I confirmed with the nurses on that. I look back at photos of her in the hospital, taken a day apart and I wonder if she looks the same. I'm pretty sure it's just my anxiety talking. This doesn't keep me up at night but I sit and wonder if she was swapped. My husband and I have had people say she looks like either one of us or a perfect mix. I also want to know if I'm the only one who wonders about this....

Found my MIL giving my 9mo protein powder

My wife and I are visiting our in laws and she gave her some of her protein powder and whatever else was in her drink. I asked her not to do that as we are just giving her purres of veggies and fruits and things. But she pushed back saying but she loves when I give it to her implying she's been giving it to her for some time. Am I justifiably upset? I asked them not to do that again and if they want to give her a smoothie stick to water/formula and fruits.

What is your #1 goal as a parent and why?

I’m not taking away from all the amazing nuances of parenting just curious if you had to boil everything down whats your goal? A successful little human? Happy person? Raising the next president?

How do you get your excerise/workouts post partum?

Baby is 7 months, and things are finally starting to feel manageable. I recently have developed knee pain and doctor assumed it may be stemming from the extra weight. So recommended getting back into movement. I do 20 min walks, but I’ll have to increase that. How do you all fit it into your days? His naps are still wonky-ish so not always trustworthy lengths. What’s your day-in-the-life look like with baby? (Context, I’m a solo parent most of the time [military fam] so it’s all me for 3 baby meals, formula feeds/play time etc)

Unplanned pregnancy with a one year old!!

I just took a test today and found out I am pregnant. We are tight on money and my husband is starting a new job. I’m so scared to tell him because this is not planned at all just like our first one! We wanted our next kid to be planned and at the right time. Does anyone have a similar experience? How do I tell him? Should I wait or just do it quick?!

Birthday party gifts and goody bags

So I have a seven year old, and I dislike giving and receiving birthday gifts. Here's my idea of a fun birthday gift. The guests go into their toy box and picks out a special gift for their friend--something they think their friend would like, and also something they are not playing with anymore. This will be super fun for the kid, the parents gets to declutter, birthday kid gets a special gift and everybody wins. I also dislike goody bags because they are almost always full of candy and cheap plastic. Anybody with me?

Double loft bed (for us) with kid’s bed underneath? Or other options for one-bed apartment

We’re in a one-bed apartment. Trying to come up with ideas to stay here until he’s around two years old… First option: we move our double bed to the living room, segmenting a portion of the room with screens / curtains / book shelves. Essentially creating a studio apartment for ourselves. And then child sleeps in our bedroom. Second option: he sleeps in the living room ‘segment’ as above. We sleep in the bedroom. Third option: we all sleep in one big bed. Is this a thing? Fourth option: we have a double deck bed (on stilts) that we sleep in, and we put a child’s bed underneath us. We all sleep in the bedroom, but with more space (we have very high ceilings). Any thoughts?
