Is it rude to ask people if they have kids?

As a new parent, I really enjoy connecting with acquaintances about having kids and parenthood, but I wonder if it's rude to ask because what if it's a touchy subject for them? Today while making small talk I asked my healthcare provider, who I've been seeing for a few weeks, if he and his wife had kids and he said, "No, we don't." And then I felt kinda awkward for asking... Is it impolite to ask a couple if they have kids? Maybe I should just wait until they bring it up themselves? What do you all think?

Anyone else just winging it?

I see so many things about sleep schedules, wake windows, bedtimes, how to get your LO to sleep through the night, how to structure wake windows, etc....I'm just winging it. I'm going with my gut and following my baby's cues. I feel kind of alone for not caring more about all of the advice out there, but honestly it's working for us and I find the structure of those resources more stressful than helpful. If my baby wakes 3 times at night, fine. If he sleeps through, amazing. If he gets two naps today, oh well. If he sleeps 4-5 hours in combined naps, fantastic. I'm honestly just letting him wake when he wakes, eat when he's hungry, and going with the flow. If you find those things helpful, that's amazing and I'm so glad it's working for you! I guess I'm just looking for reassurance that I'm not screwing up my child by not doing those things.

sleep sacks... for how long?

How long do you all normally use sleep sacks with your baby/toddler? My guy is 16 months and we still use one. He's about due to be sized up but I'm wondering if I should keep using a sleep sack or a different alternative. What did you switch your child to if you did ditch the sleep sack? Is 16 months safe for a blanket? TIA!

Grandparents who want to babysit unnecessarily

Now, now…. I know what you’re thinking give that baby to the grandparents. But here’s the thing, I’m not ready to leave my baby and certainly don’t need a break from my kid. He’s 3 months, we knew what we were getting in to AND after fertility issues we waited a long time for him, we’ve had plenty of date nights over the years and will have more in the future. So it drives me bonkers when grandparents offer to babysit so we can “get a break”. Who said we needed one? I love my baby and having him around. How about offer to come help clean the house, organize his clothes, make us a meal perhaps? But as far as the baby is concerned, I’ve got that covered. Anyone else feel me? Haha

The 4 month regression is kicking my butt! 😩

We’ve just entered the 8th week of constant wake ups and I’m so over it! Everywhere seems to say it lasts 2-6 weeks but clearly that’s nonsense. He keeps waking every 1.5 hours except between 1-4am when it’s every 30 minutes, and won’t accept dad settling him back down, it has to be me 😫 I tried cosleeping but he still woke up and needed to either be nursed or held and rocked (so I had to stand up) to go back to sleep, and the cuddle curl kills my back so I’m not keen on cosleeping anyway, it’s so bloody uncomfortable! Please tell me there’s an end to this? He will sleep again, won’t he? I’m not interested in sleep training before anyone suggests it, just needing some reassurance and shared experiences.

How do you guys with older kids have sex

I'm asking this specifically of those of you in apartments or smaller houses. Everyone says it's hard to have sex with small kids but it was easy then! Now our oldest is 9 and she often doesn't fall asleep until 9 or 10. By that point I'm too exhausted for anything. Anyway our bedroom is right next to hers and you can hear everything and the living room isn't much better. There isn't anywhere else, we don't have a big place. I only see it getting worse. What do we do when she's 15 and up all the time! We'll never have sex again! Help, lol.

Baby bumps head at least a few times per day - I’m gonna lose my shit!

Please tell me my baby isn’t going to hurt herself from bumping her head against mine / my chin or jerkily flopping her head forward / back no matter how hard I try to support it / catch her jerky movements. Gonna have a panic attack soon 😫

my baby carrier sucks need recommendations

Hey guys my baby girl is 9lbs and 7 weeks old. I have 2 carriers , one Infantino and one my wrap. The Infantino we love but the dilemma is we have to keep readjusting it everyrime one of us uses it. He is bigger then me and I'm small and it's a pain having to adjust it back and forth. I have a Moby wrap that i loved at first but now it's annoying as my baby keeps sliding down and by the time our walk is over i end up carrying her in my arms essentially. I have wrapped it right down it all. I love the idea of wrapping and carrying her and would like to continue . Does bayonet have any recommendations for wrap carriers

The online tutoring market is oversaturated with teachers. But because so many of those teachers are determined to make it work remaining companies are in a position to take advantage of their desperation for bookings and income. @ByEmilyTate @EdSurge https://t.co/Y4za4Kpvzr

Rant: “OMG, he’s SO BIG!!”

It’s getting annoying to me that people are always talking about how big my son is. He’s on a bigger side (80th percentile), but he’s not OUTRAGEOUSLY big. It feels like a pathway to people nosily trying to figure out why: what has this horrible mother been feeding her baby where he is so fat? Ooh, are you (gasp) formula feeding? Like, don’t be fatphobic to my baby. 🙄
