F*%# you, Daylight saving time change. -Parents everywhere
Why do they do this to us??? Can’t we just choose a time and stick with it. Gearing up for the longest seeming morning of the year this weekend and dreading it.

In recent years, discussions about mental health have proliferated on social media. While this bounty of unfiltered resources can serve to reduce the stigma associated with mental illness, there are downsides. @cdcaron @nytimeswell https://t.co/lkkFu1bSZu

So... what did your kids dress up as?
Genuinely curious! Here's what my kids were - 4 yo son - hotdog. Saw the costume at target, he decided right then and there he would be a hotdog. The costume was on sale, so good deal 7 yo daughter - Regina George. Watched Mean Girls with me and loved Regina's pink outfit. Got a white tank top from Michael's, stencil painted red letters on it, glitter, she already has a pink skirt and black flip flops, so all we needed was a pink cardigan. She didn't want a wig but asked me to straighten her hair. My dad took them trick or treating which gave me time to myself, they were super excited and came back super happy, they got compliments on their costumes at both school and while out. Hope everyone else had a safe and happy night!

Drop-in company with a newborn
I don't like unannounced visitors even before I had a baby, but WHO with any sense would think it is okay to show up unnounced at my door when I have a baby who isn't even two weeks old? I was pumping and checked the doorbell camera and could see it was a relative. Who didn't check in with me all pregnancy after I told them was pregnant. Hasn't called or text since I messaged them baby was born. I could have talked through the camera but just did not even feel like giving that nonsense any kind of attention. She was holding a tote bag but didn't leave it. Just. What?? I understand why these bump and parenting subs are so vent-heavy. I don't want to say negative things to my husband or mom about this person because it opens the door for more negativity, but I am telling you all.

While the transition from summer to a new school year can be difficult, nothing compares to the lawlessness of those smaller seasonal school vacations, those three- and four-day weekends! #tuesdaytips https://t.co/iKLGVVLTac

My almost 18 month old took her first steps today
Just that. A physiotherapist told us at 10 months that her legs, ankles especially felt extra flexible and that she’d likely just take a little longer. This weekend she stood up by herself and today she’s been taking a couple of wobbly steps on her own! So happy and proud

Feeding baby solids.. tired parent edition
FTM here to 8 month old girl. We’ve been introducing purées since she was 4 months per the doctor. I don’t do a ton of reading and research admittedly on all the best parenting tips or baby nutrition. I’ve been getting beech nut purée this whole time and throw some Greek yogurt in there. It literally just occurred to me.. I CAN JUST PUT AN ACTUAL BANANA IN A BLENDER AND FEED IT TO HER. Trader Joe’s sells frozen mashed sweet potatoes... it’s so easy to take a few chunks out and thaw in the fridge. Mixing Greek yogurt and almond butter works when I’m out of everything else. My mind is blown yall. I’ve been on the struggle bus since she was born obviously, but it honestly has not occurred to me I can just make her food with the food we eat. Any other easy food hacks you guys do that I probably won’t figure out for another 5 months? Sincerely, A tired, space cadet of a mom

My baby is never happy: update
I’m not sure if you guys [remember me](https://www.reddit.com/r/beyondthebump/comments/xl3a8d/my_baby_is_never_happy/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf), but about a month ago I made a post about how my baby was never happy. I’m glad to let you all know that in 2 days she will be 5 months and she is now a decently happy baby. It seemingly happened over night. All of the sudden she was entertaining herself and going long stretches without crying. It was like a switch flipped one day. She still prefers being held and cuddled, but she’s happy on her own. I’m starting to feel like myself again. Thank you all for the love and support. It really helped me when I was going through that. It was really hard on my mental health
