By age 14, girls are dropping out of sports at approximately twice the rate of boys, which makes this time critical for keeping girls in sport. Here's more about what the research says and what parents and coaches can do: https://t.co/L1MQODmuVC

things I've gotten told as a FTM with a boomer mother and my childhood truama assosiated. enjoy.

About my newborn baby btw. "You take the temperature of the bath?? Omg this kid is so spoiled. Talk to me when he's 3 and needs the bath a certain temperature." (Me remembering everytime I was left in a cold bath.) "Stop holding a sleeping baby!!! Let him cry himself to sleep!" (Me remembering all the times she's told me she heard me crying in my room alone and just let me figure it out) "Baby carriers give babies a superiority complex. Set him on the floor with a bouncer." (Me never being good enough or enough to be proud of. If I was ever confident I was disrespectful) "Stop feeding him whenever he wants!! He's just bored." (Me remembering being told I had fat thighs in shorts and refused to wear shorts or eat full meals until I was 25.) šŸ™ƒšŸ˜®ā€šŸ’Ø I'm going to be better for you bud.

He hit him.

He hit him with a tent pole. Their father. He hit my 4 year old with a tent pole on the bottom "for not listening after I said it twice." He's 4 for God's sake. FOUR.

Over my 4 year old being a shithead

I write at least one of these posts monthly, ugh... So she will be 5 in January, and I don't know if this is completely normal or not, but she has been a massive shithead here lately. So much so that I can't really stand to be around her. Every time you try to correct her behavior or even try to talk to her about her shitty behavior, she runs away to her room, and slams the door. She whines and cries when she doesn't get what she wants. She has been very attached to her father and I and always demands our undivided attention. I feel like at times I'm raising a spoiled brat. Again I'm not sure what I'm experiencing is age appropriate or not, but I'm so over it. I need a break from this kid.

Exhausted first-time mom seeking help

I'm a new first-time mom (3 months) and it's been a pretty overwhelming experience. I haven't been feeling myself. Have any of you felt this way? How did you get help? Any recommendations?

Please donā€™t bring your sick kids to school/ daycare

Iā€™m a daycare teacher for our one year old room. I had a child come in today and was told she has a cough from teething. This child has coughed all day long, and so hard sheā€™s been close to vomiting. Itā€™s like a barking cough. Thatā€™s not teething. Another child was dropped off looking sick as hell. Red eyes, snotty, coughing. As I started rocking him for nap, I noticed yellow crust around his eyes and fluid in one eye. I just got over the flu. I had it on thanksgiving. Last year, I had the flu on Christmas. I have a child Iā€™m excited to spend the holidays with, which I canā€™t do the way I want to if Iā€™m sick. Be considerate ffs. If your child obviously looks/sounds sick, youā€™re gonna have to be the one to call out of work and stay home. I shouldnā€™t have to call out because your child gets me sick. I keep my sick self and sick kid home. And stop blaming everything on teething. We arenā€™t stupid.

I donā€™t understand why schools make siblings go to school if their other sibling has Covid, RSV or influenza! These sickness could be better prevented and we are all apparently numb in the US. Sorry yes I said it lol.

Sorry if the title offends anyone but thatā€™s how I truly feel. My 11 year old is really sick and he may have one of the three viral infections. The nurse told me itā€™s better to not take him in because it puts our four week old at a higher risk for getting it by close contact. I have a nine year old and I wanted to keep her home from school because just yesterday she was really close to my son all day. Her school said I canā€™t keep her home without a doctors note! The nurse at their doctors office said to keep all the kids away as much as possible and now I have no choice but to transport my daughter to school next to my 4 week old. This totally goes against the doctors recommendations. When my husband had Covid I was told the same thing. I get that her education is important but my babies health isnā€™t? What about the other families with young kids or kids with health problems? End of rant.

Newborn dry flaky skin.

My newborn has developed some dry flaky skin on his forehead and between his eyebrows itā€™s only mildly red in certain areas but very dry. Should I be putting something on it? Will it go away?

What's a thoughtful and/or useful gift you received as a new parent?

Hey everyone - not a new parent here, but looking to buy something for my sister and brother-in-law for Christmas. They became first time parents earlier this year. I don't just want to buy them something common, but I'd really like to put some effort in to getting them a useful and/or thoughtful and/or sentimental and/or meaningful gift that's not the average, every day thing. I know it's weird criteria, but does anything come to mind?

please help. baby sick and we ran out of AR formula.

My LO is 9 months almost 10 months old. Over the weekend he had a fever and diarrhea and we just so happened to run out of the last of his Enfamil AR formula and itā€™s not sold anywhere anymore. All we have is gentleease. He then developed a really bad wet cough and congestion, fever has gone down. Sometimes heā€™ll take the gentleease but now heā€™s rejecting anything I give him, even solids. Iā€™m also having my 3rd period of this past month and all of the house and taking care of LO is falling on me. He wonā€™t sleep either. Iā€™m going to have a breakdown. What do I do just to at least have him eat? Iā€™ve tried thickening his bottles with baby cereal, given him ready to feed, he wonā€™t even attempt to put the bottle in his mouth. Heā€™s fussing because heā€™s hungry. I donā€™t know what to do Iā€™m at a complete loss and I feel like shit myself how can I do all of this

Does life ever get back to being like it used to?šŸ˜…

Iā€™m a FTM and LO is 5 months old and I love her to bits. I just wanted to be given a reality check by other mums, does life ever go back to being somewhat like it used to be before having a baby? Not completely, of course, now that thereā€™s a baby in the picture, but like some version of your old life? Or is this it, is my life over?šŸ˜…
