Biggest Parenting Fail

I’m gunna need someone to comment their biggest parenting fail. I’ll go first. My husband and I just found out (FIVE MONTHS LATER) that the nurse in the hospital that put our baby in her car seat and gave us a step by step strapped her in wrong and we have been doing it the same way ever since. No wonder my baby hates the car seat 😭😭😭😭😭. We’ve been pulling her legs thru the hip strap instead of simply just buckling across the hips. I feel like the worst parent for just now realizing. No one ever commented that we were doing it wrong either. Five months. I feel dead on the inside.

How do I respond to my mother in law’s comments about my weight?

MIL has an obsession with food and weight and is constantly talking about it. When I was pregnant she said I looked so big I should go to the doctor. When I was a few month postpartum she asked if I was going to get a new wardrobe that might fit me. When I lost weight she dropped comments about how I must be skipping meals. You get the idea. Anyway she’s visiting for the weekend and I’m dreading the snide pointed comments. Husband doesn’t get involved and I don’t want to cause a bust up. Can you help me think of some restrained, polite responses that shut down all of the food/weight chat? Thanks in advance 🙂

What's with coats??? (or lack thereof)

I mean, is it just uncool to wear a jacket now? My kids (13) have been refusing to wear jackets since they got in middle school. 20 degrees and they are going to school in a sweater...

“I’m about to Cocomelon their asses”

-my wife to me after two days of a whiney one and three year old. I laughed. The moment that bumble bee and xylophone or whatever it is started to play, it was sweet silent bliss. This is the love side of my love/hate relationship with that damn cartoon. We try to use it sparingly, because my fear is that the more we use, the more it’ll take to capture their attention. Like a drug, where it used to take just one unit to get high, now it takes two etc. Has anyone overused cocomelon and now it doesn’t work? Anyway, I’m just enjoying the calm for the moment and thought I’d share.

Breastfeeding hurts.. SO MUCH!

Nobody warned me that it will hurt this much.. I just know it will be painful… but not so much. And I wanna give up. :( I gave birth last December 7.. and I started breastfeeding right after i gave birth via c section… at first it’s okay and very tolerable.. but as days goes by it starts to get painful and painful. I want to stop, but i feel guilty to formula feed her especially if i know i have enough supply to breastfeed her.. I don’t know what to do 😢😢 I’m currently breastfeeding her right now as I’m typing.. just to distract myself.. BUT IT’S SO PAINFUL. It’s even more painful than my wound from c section😢😢😢😢

This is a common thing, right?

I was sitting at my table last night after the kids went to bed unboxing a toy for my youngest. My husband had a shocked look on his face. His parents never once opened gifts ahead of time. He and his four siblings would be in line with their new things the morning of Christmas waiting for their dad to assemble each item. My high ass is peacefully putting window stickers on the side of a ship and I cant imagine trying to do any of this with my 3 yo standing next to me asking if it’s done. So the question is, what do you guys do? Preemptively cut zip ties and install batteries or wrap it how it comes?
