Early evening sunlight dances down the valleys to warm the icy terrain. This natural-color Landsat 8 data was draped over a global digital elevation model of Greenland to create this unique view. The area lies a bit northeast of Gunnbjørn Fjeld, the tallest mountain in the country. The region is dotted with nunataks—rocky peaks that stick through glaciers and ice sheets—in the Watkins Range, Greenland’s tallest mountain range. It’s #ThrowbackThursday! Released 23 years ago this month, these views of Jupiter’s northern and southern auroras were taken in ultraviolet light by Hubble. The auroras are brilliant curtains of light in Jupiter’s upper atmosphere: https://t.co/7D9YdIBqEv https://t.co/hK5MOYdVHE
