Meet our @SpaceX #Crew4 before our overnight launch coverage begins at midnight ET (4:00 UTC). The astronauts spent every day for months together preparing for any obstacle—which may just be surviving one another’s bad jokes. Live launch broadcast: https://t.co/cdxWseYBCZ https://t.co/oBs3FuGYKq

The planets are lining up with the moon. Sorry for the amateur pic, wish I had a telescope.

The Saturn Nebula (also known as NGC 7009) is a planetary nebula located somewhere between 2,000 and 4,000 light-years away from Earth It has gotten its name from its resemblance to the planet Saturn (through a small telescope) with its rings nearly edge-on to the observer

Which constellation was the moon in this morning at around 6:15 AM? I had to take this photo for a project in class and now I need to mark the moon, Venus, and Jupiter on my planisphere but don't know where they are

Nikon Monarch HG 10x42 or Vortex Viper HD 10x50 for handheld stargazing?

I’d like to invest in a pair of binoculars for stargazing and I’m considering either the Nikon Monarch HG 10x42 and the Vortex Viper HD 10x50. Both have good reviews and are said to be quite sharp. The Nikon costs more but is lighter and is sharper sharper edge-to-edge than the Vortex. However, the Vortex has a larger lens diameter. I’m going for 10x magnification only because I’d like to stargaze without a tripod (for now). Overall, I’m leaning towards the Nikon for the lightness and sharpness, but wondering if the 42mm lens is big enough. Is there much difference between 42mm and 50mm? Would the extra sharpness of the Nikon make a difference?
