Shine bright like NGC 2031 💎 Hubble's next #StarrySights image shows a cluster that resides about 150,000 light-years from Earth in an extremely dense region of the Large Magellanic Cloud, which is a satellite galaxy of our own Milky Way. For more: https://t.co/mSCHD9FcWP https://t.co/dBJMRf9wU1

Sorry if this doesn’t belong here but I saw that the moon had a halo tonight. Does anyone know what this phenomenon is called?

Need Help Creating "Star Room" For Community Event
Hi Everyone! I tried to set up a stargazing event as part of a larger family friendly community party in 2 weeks, but the local astronomy society couldn't find any volunteers to come out. Instead, we want to create an immersive experience using digital projectors and other resources. We have a windowless room and plenty of projectors and computers. My questions and needs are as follows: \- Where can I find some high resolution photos of the night sky similar to what will be visible from the central/western US? \- What apps work best with kids to explore on iPads? \- What suggestions or ideas do people have to make this a cool experience for families with children of all ages? Thanks in advance!

Look up! Mars slips behind the Moon tonight (called an "occultation") for viewers in most of the U.S. If you're in the East Coast or the Southeast, the Moon will appear to just barely graze past Mars. Check out stargazing tips for the December here: https://t.co/BiFgDOa7ci https://t.co/KIhNjxvxu5
