Am I right to be annoyed?

I am been working on my tripod head stand. We had some time at the end of class to work on inversions so I got into my tripod with my knees on my elbow shelf and then slowly raising my legs but wasn’t quite up all the way. The instructor (who was a sub that I have not had before) told me she would be there and to go all the way up. But then when I got to the top, she let me fall back past center, I fell into her, and then she stepped back and let me fall the rest of the way! Thankfully I sorted of tucked and rolled down instead of falling flat on my back/butt. But then, she had the audacity to be like "good thing I have health insurance" implying that I hurt her! I am pretty mad because I feel like I could have been really hurt, I didn't ask her to spot me, she offered, and then she was rude about it.

Chin Lock breathing question

I am trying to understand how to do this technique of breathing properly. So once I take breath in and lock my chin down, should I try to excel air from lungs into the throat which is now locked with chin? Is this the purpose of chin lock so I can put pressure from lungs to throat without releasing it because I locked it with chin? Or should I just hold air inside lungs just like I do without chin lock?

Each day, 6,000 American women hit menopause, but the subject remains taboo. It’s high time that we swap knowledge, get recognition in the medical community, and ultimately, find some relief. Turns out, yoga can help. https://t.co/8GNfozzDWN

Rounded shoulders flexibility issue

Hi everyone. I'm running into an issue with my, very rounded, shoulders, and I'm hoping to find an answer here. I'm trying to get more mobility and flexibility in my shoulders, but whenever I do certain shoulder stretches, for example puppy pose, I sometimes get pains in my upper arms. It feels like my biceps but I'm not sure, could be deltoids? Likewise, when I do a forward fold with clasped hands behind my back, my shoulders still feel like they're pointing forward, rounded, rather than opening up. Gomukhasana I'm particularly bad at. For my left side I can barely touch fingers, but my right side especially I'm miles off of touching. When I try this, I feel the pains in my biceps again. So yah, does this sound familiar? Any pointers?

Left Elbow Pain

I’ve been noticing pain in my left elbow after completing a class with a lot of chaturangas. It seems to affect my grip strength to where simple movements like pinching my fingers together causes pain. Just trying to find the source of the pain is difficult bc I can’t seem to root out the source. I’m trying to make sure my elbows are only hinging the way they are supposed to, but I have no idea what I’m doing wrong. Any advice?

Pre natal iyengar yoga

Hello, I wonder if someone here can help? I am looking for a source for pre natal iyengar yoga. I don't know my way around YouTube enough to know who is reputable and who isn't, I am happy to pay for videos but I really don't know where to look for them or who specialises in pre natal. I spent £30 on a set of 3 videos yesterday and they are all flow yoga - I haven't ever really enjoyed flow unfortunately so it's money down the drain to me. Normally I would be happy to pick anything off YouTube but being pregnant I'm worried about harmful positions for the baby if the instructor isn't knowledgeable or fully trained. Does anyone know/recommend where I could find "reputable" pre natal iyengar yoga online? Also nowhere locally does yoga so that idea is out the window...

Knee injury from Pigeon pose

Hi all, back in early December I was doing some yoga, and im still pretty new. Ive been on and off for a few years but im new to consistent practice. I decided to push myself before I was ready, foolishly. So far in my pigeon pose my front leg would be bent, so that my foot is near my pelvis. on this day, I decided to try and get my leg to bend at a 90 degree angle instead. When I did, I felt a great strain to the outside of my knee. I got up and stopped because I knew I was hurt. Even now, weeks later, it hurts like a bitch, especially when I've been sat cross legged, and then I straighten out my leg, that is the worst. It is my left knee, and has so far shown no signs of improvement. Im still going about my daily tasks fine, but the pain is there. I just wanted to know if anyone has experienced a similar thing, or heard of a similar thing, or has any advice on how I can get that knee back to normal. Thanks :)

Can’t put both hands flat on floor in low lunge

Hi! I’ve lurked on this sub for a while and it has helped me, but this is my first post. I’ve always had an issue when transition in and out of low lunge, say from downward dog. It’s hard to get my leg where it needs to be due to space. When I am in the position, I can only have one hand (the hand on the side that has the leg back) flat on the floor. I know we aren’t really supposed to put a ton of weight into the hands (more fingertips when you look forward), but the transitions are hard because of it. I am a 6ft tall woman and have super long legs; my torso isn’t as long (when people meet me sitting down they don’t realize I am super tall). I am guessing this is just my arms to leg ratio being smaller than most folks’? But maybe I am missing something. Has anyone else experienced this? TIA!

How long do you stay in shavansa for?

Hi all. I do about 2-3 at home classes a day. For example, I did a 20 minute class so I did a 3 minute shavansa. Then I did a 10 minute class and I did 2-3 minute shavansa. I will do another class in the evening. I feel like maybe I’m doing it for too short based on what I read online. Do I take a long shavansa even for the 10 min classes?

I’d like to do a few yoga retreats this year, preferably US baed on a beach somewhere. Is there a good aggregator site out there?
