Attended a class at CPY last week where the instructor had "ok to touch" and "no thank you" signs to put in front of the mat. I freaking loved it. Thoughts?
I'm a touchy person who really dislikes it when yoga instructors try to touch me in class. I know I can always let the instructors know ahead of time, but then I also don't feel like this should be necessary because I feel you should know not to touch someone without their consent. Where I previously practiced in Chicago, instructors would just ask students to hold a hand up if they do not want to be touched and it worked well. I'm in California now and one of the instructors used these yes/no cards and I've never felt more thankful. I'm curious though, what are your thoughts on this? I expect some people will say that adjustments from teachers are part of practicing yoga. But for someone who doesn't like to be touched by strangers (I have issues due to waitressing and non-consensual grabbing when I was younger), I really like it when instructors ask before.

Unable to do some forward folds (help? Maybe?)
Hi! I’ve been doing yoga on and off, especially with stretching and I struggle with some forward folds. I can easily do it when I’m like criss-cross-apple-sauce/lotus feet, or when standing (although not to the same extent or as easily) I struggle to do it seated with my legs stretched out, or spread. I can touch my toes but thats it. Did anyone ever struggle with something similar or have any advice on how to get there?

A convenient way to clean my mat
Hello everyone, I just wanted to gather some new ideas since my method is not that optimal. I usually carry a small spray bottle filled with water and some detergent to clean my mat after practice then I wipe it with a washcloth. I use the shower head from time to time to rinse it and leave it to dry in the bathroom or by some window. I’m curious to know how you do it. I know it’s important because we rest both our feet and faces on our mats :)) Thanks in advance

Is this normal?
So recently guys I’ve joined yoga, I’m an avid powerlifter but wanted to try something different so I did yoga. Long story short I got recommended to try Yin yoga as a beginner I went into class which was great but it’s only my second time and class is mixed levels yogi’s and I find it hard to understand poses because I’m new the positions and names is this normal to begin with not understanding what the instructor is asking or what I’m actually meant to be stretching ( knowing the particular muscle I’m actively stretching l) Is this something that comes with time? Like understanding the poses and what they do? Or is this not normal?

It's taken a long time to process—and come back from—what happened. Maybe one day soon I'll be ready to unroll my mat again. https://t.co/DC327NYJhs

Is it rude to step on someone else’s mat at the studio?
I was attending a class at my local studio and I sat close to the props cubby, while I was warming up there was a swarm of people to grab their props and many if not all of them stepped on my mat as if I wasn’t even there. Am I over reacting? Maybe the class was just too big/not enough space?
