Yoga at equinox
I am a yoga teacher, and Iâm curious to hear from people who have practiced yoga at equinox gym. I would like to know what types of classes they have, but would rather find out through people online, then paying their huge membership fee. I would like to know how similar they are compared to the typical classes that are offered at places such as CorePower, yoga 6, hot 8, trufusion, and other chains. Any opinion is appreciated, thanks so much!

If you had the choice, would you opt to be a BEGINNER or an EXPERT in your yoga practice? #YogaMedicinePodcast -Rachel Land & Kylie Rook discuss how being an adult beginner (instead of an expert!) can bring some surprising benefits to your yoga practice https://t.co/l85wlpvLOr https://t.co/JQ1rEy8gXo

In my mind this is an unspoken rule of yoga
That you donât step on a yoga mat that isnât yours. Thoughts?

Even doing 20 mins of yoga is better than doing nothing.
I have depression, there are days when I can't get out of bed even if I need to. I'd skip exercise for 2-3 days and then do a ton of it on the fourth day. I realised if I do yoga for one hour, I wouldn't have the energy to do anything else around the house. But if I do just for 15-20 mins I still have energy to do stuff around the house and leave some free time for myself feeling like I've conquered the world. Weight loss is not really the goal for me, being more fit and flexible is the goal.

Questions from a beginner
I have three random questions so I decided to combine them in one post. Would appreciate answers from people who has experienceđđ˝ 1. If I do reclined butterfly pose while reading my book in bed, will it help with my butterfly when I get on the mat? (My hips are very stiff) 2. It seems to be pretty hard for me to practice with just 1 mat, my knees hurt. So I put another thick one under my yoga mat. Is there any way I can train (?) my knees to be able to practice with just one mat? 3. I get a weird sharp headache when doing cat-cow (when switching from cat to cow), what can cause that?

Unrealistic Comparisons
Just writing to remind myself and others that many beautifully choreographed flows that you see here, on youtube, and on tiktok were performed by gymnasts and dancers. Iâve watched too many videos getting frustrated comparing it to myself only to dig a little deeper to see the poster say they were a gymnast or dancer their entire adolescence. What theyâre doing is impressive and possibly aspirational, but remember like everything else on the internet: you only see the good side. You didnât see these posters practice for years a profession that ultimately is not yoga. Focus on you! Your breath, your small victories, and your daily practice - no matter how simple <3

Whatâs yoga? Cause itâs definitely not a âworkoutâ.
Some styles of yoga require lots of exertion, raise the heart rate, and are physically challenging - leading to strength and flexibility. But, of course, yoga isnât *just* a âworkoutâ like a spin class or Pilates class. Iâve heard (and I agree with) âyou canât take a âphotoâ of yogaâ⌠just the same way you canât take a photo of âmeditationâ. You can take a photo of someone seated cross-legged with their eyes closed, but only they know truly know if theyâre actually meditating. You can take a photo of someone doing a handstand, but only they truly know if theyâre doing yoga.
