Yoga or Exercise?

I went to a new Yoga class today. The session was super fast-paced and I was not feeling calm or peaceful like it's supposed to be. It was called Hatha Yoga and it felt more like exercising or working out to me. I prefer Yoga so I can stretch, feel relaxed and connect with myself. Though, the instructor asked us to go with our own pace, I did not feel the calm vibe that's usually there while doing Yoga. Now my question is, is this how it was supposed to be?

Can you get a yoga cert with NO experience?

Hi! I have only done yoga a few times but know a lot about it. I’m not super great at it yet. I also practice the basics at home. Are you able to sign up to be a certified teacher and learn through the courses? Or is this taboo?

Looking to get stronger with yoga

Hi, I'm looking to get stronger with yoga, eventually get up to doing hand balances and such crazy stuff. I don't know where to start and I don't know what makes an effective program. Can you help me plz by giving me a good program to follow that will make me stronger and help me (eventually, I understand it's a lot of work ) hit some advanced hand balancing stuff? I've always wanted to do that. Thanks. Edit: I'm 32m and 90kg, I have some experience in the gym and with grappling martial arts but only ever done yoga for fun; I wanna try doing it seriously for a while. Point me in the right direction plz. By hand balances I mean crazy poses like handstands and the others whose name I don't know cuz I don't know much yoga, thanks again.

Advice for a Mail Carrier

Hello everyone! I was hoping to reach out to this community to get some advice on daily poses and routines I can do before work and while at work. I am a US mail carrier and walk on average 14-16 miles a day, 6 days a week. I’ve been starting to experience tightness in my shoulders, wrists, ankles, fingers (I know right?) and legs. I’ve tried restorative yoga before, but it’s also hard to find the time to make classes with a busy life schedule. Is there any quick routines or poses that one would recommend to specifically target the areas of tightness I could do before and while at work?

If you asked your students what brought them to class, do you know what their reason would be? YM TS Caroline Wybar reflected on her personal findings of what brought students to the mat, noting that one of the most common reasons she’s found is anxiety. https://t.co/TRmOPnVwm5 https://t.co/apRPpQXOO4

Not feeling anything?

I’m new to yoga, and I haven’t taken care of my body for a long time. Some poses are crazy hard, mostly involving balancing, other poses, I don’t really feel anything at all. Others come extremely easy, which makes me think I’m not doing them right. Gomukhasana for example, I don’t feel anything. Forward bended butterfly and malasana, both are very easy. Is this normal, and do you have any advice or answers?

24(M) Been practicing for yoga since 2020 and just wanted to voice my appreciation for it

In 2020, I was in a low place when going out was discouraged and so lost in life. I just sort of fell upon it one day (along with knowing my step mom does it) when I know I needed some structure in my life and now I can say I practice most days. Didn't want to make this a big post although I probably could (maybe later haha)
