How to approach a fellow class member who lets her phone buzz and ring during class?

Let me preface this with saying I am a very non confrontational person. I am not good at speaking up. The last two Thursday night classes I have taken, this woman has her phone right next to her mat. It is on volume and has received about 4 texts each session. Also it rang with a phone call each of the last two Thursdays. How can I politely ask/tell her it’s rude? I can’t be the only one in the class who is annoyed by it. Any recommendations would be appreciated!

Barre or pilates before yoga

Has someone use pilates or barre before yoga class. I start to do 30 min barre and then 30 min yoga instead of 60min yoga. In this 30 min of yoga can go deaper into the poses then 60min yoga only. Can someone has the same experience?

Calf pain during prasarita paddotanasana (wide leg stance)

I have been practicing yoga for a few years, maybe 5-6 days a week. I feel like my practice has advanced considerably, yet I am always having leg pain when doing wide leg forward bends, and not in the inner thigh. I feel a pain in my outer calves that I would best equate to a shin splint. Will this ever go away? Is there anything I should be doing to avoid this pain?

Handstands are happening after three years!! I’ve been scared of kicking up so I’ve been practicing lifting in a more controlled way, I’m very happy with my journey and how much I’ve grown in the process 🤸‍♀️

I started practicing handstands about 3 years ago and I can finally hold some for a few seconds! I’ve been scared of kicking up and I still need to have something soft behind me in case I fall, so I’ve been learning to come up in more controlled way that just kicking up, but I’m very happy with my journey and the confidence this posture it’s giving me.

YOGA TEACHER- QUESTION

Hello everyone! I'm a yoga teacher and have around 25 students now and I have a question. So I do yoga online (through zoom) and in my programs I add a lot of extra items such as free guide books, poses, chakra information, collection of the best healing herbs and much more. What I'm wondering is I always give away more than I charge just because I love giving, but this takes a lot of effort. Do you recommend I charge for some of this? I'm doing a free 3-day yoga class now and I'm not sure if I should include all of this material in there? thank you guys in advance! <3 Have a great Friday and I wish you lots of health and happiness :)

Alternatives

Was dealing with terrible depression and a lower back condition for years, and yoga used to be the only thing that helped. I fell in love with it over the years but my back condition developed into a neurological issue (sciatica) and I was recently advised to completely stop yoga. It's only until I get better, which would take months or years, but this hobby had become an outlet, and it felt like I had lost something very precious. Started crying in the room out of frustration. What are some less strenuous ways to find the same peace yoga offers?

Yoga music recommendations?

Hello fellow yogis! I have a burning question for you all. Ever since I started practising, I realized I always need music rather than silence, it helps me relax and clear my mind much better. However, I am not a fan of generic “meditation / relaxing tunes” or nature sounds, and so far the only music that’s really done it for me was Enya. It’s the perfect balance of ambience / melody / tempo / lyrics. So my question for you is: do you have any recommendation as to what to play as a background music for yoga, that might hit the right spots as Enya does? Or maybe even something completely different that does it for you, so I can get inspired and experiment? Thanks in advance - I will be forever grateful for all suggestions!

How to change your mind and think positively?

I'm sure you have a brilliant idea somewhere in the back of your mind that you can't wait to put to the test. Of course, you aren't the only one who has a brilliant idea. So, what drives you to churn those creative, or even inspiring, juices to their full potential? It's always a good idea to set a personal goal that you can accomplish the most in the least amount of time, such as mowing the lawn an hour before the big game on TV. Whatever you do, having a correct and positive attitude will make things easier, if not enjoyable.
