Meditation before or after asanas?

Just curious what people prefer, I've seen it both ways, like 1) Wake up early and meditate before the sun comes out and kicks off your serotonin production. Asanas also energize you so you're ready to face the day, not go back into a low-energy meditation state 2) Do your asanas practice so you get all stretched and limber and in a better physical state to sit for an extended period. The "comedown" brings you into meditation. I've heard both recommended and I understand the reasoning behind both, but I would love to hear what works for anyone who thinks they've got a solid (preferably morning) yoga/meditation practice.

Leggings

Dearest Yogi’s, is there a perfect Yoga legging? I’m really curious to know if anyone else constantly struggles during class with leggings slipping out of place. I have a long torso, and shortish legs. Just wondering what everyone’s favorite leggings are, and if anyone has any suggestions or favorites to share. Thanks!

Yoga pants for men

Any suggestions here? I’ve been doing yoga for about six years and I’ve been wearing baseball pants and other abbreviated pants. Any suggestions? something comfortable? I’m not wearing Lululemon‘s.

What is the most difficult fun asana you've been working, practicing, struggling, and still can't pull off?

For me it's crow pose, pincha mayurasana and chaturanga. I hate them but still love them and make me laugh about my self. It's got a lot to do with our bone pre-sets I think.

Best healing retreats for yoga and breathework

Hi all, i have a quick questions on where to find a really good healing treat that offers yoga, meditation, sound healing, digital detox, breathework, and etc. Have you had experience staying at one of them? I'm hoping to go to one soon and don't mind traveling to wherever it is as long as it's super good and healing, thanks in advance! :)

what pranayama can be done while sitting or lying down?

I mean like sitali or bhastrika, alternate nostril or any other? is it dangerous to do pranayama while sitting? can I do those 3 while sitting, I don't have time to just sit leg crossed :(, I appreciate any advice :)

What makes a good yoga blog? Any advice?

Hi Redditors! As the header suggests, I'm in need of assistance with what makes a good yoga blog. I'm based in the Philippines and recently opened my studio <3 in Bohol. My [Bohol Yoga](https://www.panglaoyoga.com/blog) Studio is doing quite well since its opening in February, but as a side project, I'd like to develop my blog to reach, help, challenge, and inspire as many people as possible. Why don’t I see more people wearing jumpsuits/bodysuits in yoga class?

I’ve casually practiced yoga at home for years then in January started going to classes at my local athletic center regularly. I bought a unitard from Old Navy for $30 on sale, which has done wonders for my comfort and general anxiety about being in a group setting. No tugging at my waist band, no worrying about my shirt riding up. I really love it! But I don’t see anyone else at the gym wearing anything like this and I’m stumped as to why. In fact, it makes me a little self conscious that I’m standing out so I usually wear a tank top or shirt over the top. Am I crazy? Have they just not caught on yet? Do people not like them because of the whole going to the bathroom ordeal (I’ll admit it can be a little annoying but it’s not so bad)? Is there something I’m missing that makes this style of clothing super dorky or something? Any insight is appreciated!

Day 90 of daily practice and I am celebrating

Today was my 90th straight day of getting on my mat for at least fifteen minutes. I'm 36f and I had a little experience with some light yoga in college but had done pretty much zero physical activity for like... a decade! I'm thin but not fit if that makes sense. I'm So glad I was pulled to start out with a short YouTube video in January of this year. I have only practiced with YouTube videos (Adriene, Kassandra, and a couple of others like Jessica Richburg and Daria Legend) and a couple of live classes on Insight Timer (no IRL instruction or corrections) as I'm very rural and also very broke. But I'm in awe of how much stretch-ier I've become and how easy a 45 minute long video has become (on day one, ten minutes left me exhausted but now that's just an easy warm up!) Just wanted to share my milestone with some folks who will understand how good this feels!

ELI5 - how is double pigeon different than sitting cross legged? And how to relieve hip pain during it?

Hi all! Not a yoga practitioner at all (but should be?). I've been suffering from sciatic-type pain, and using regular pigeon pose to help stretch the areas. I noticed this double pigeon pose... And it seems like how I sit pretty much 24/7. The only problem? I've started to get some crazy hip pain (specifically the left hip) while sitting in that position. I'm short, and have difficulty sitting in chairs because my feet don't hurt the ground... I've "fixed" the issue by sitting this way. I can sit with both feet under the opposite knee, with both feet on top of the opposite knee (a bit harder due to overwhelmed calves), and what seems to be double pigeon. Part of my thoughts are that I just sit in the positions too long. That the hips just aren't meant to be open quite as much as they are with me sitting like this. The other part knows I need to stop sitting so damned much, but in this day and age, it's hard to avoid. Thanks in advance for any advice you have! ❤️
