Yoga feels like home but my christian upbringing feels conflicting. Would love support here.
Yoga feels like home. The yamas and niyamas resonate. Chanting does not feel evil to me, it brings me joy. However, I was raised in a Christian household and my mother having devoted her life to spreading “Jesus message and what it is to be born again” has fed me certain things about yoga being evil and chanting praising different Gods. In my heart it doesn’t feel wrong to me, and Christianity feels like a lot of fear mongering and manipulation and not love…. But internally these things my mother has raised me to believe keep me from being 100% joyous in my yoga and spiritual journey. She would say that is because I know in my heart it is wrong, but I don’t think that’s it. Has anyone ever been through this or similar? I have absolutely nothing against any religion and that’s not what this post is about, I more so am looking for support, mature conversation, and helpful, kind advice. Thank you in advance.

Did anyone cure tight hips/hamstrings with yoga? And what type would you recommend?
What type of yoga do you use to get looser hips and hams? Does yoga help with mobility and range of motion? What type of yoga would be best? How many days of practice do you currently do if so? I’d also like to know if you experience better control with your emotions like anger, anxiety Do you feel more confidence in yourself and do you feel more equip to take on life? (I made a post previous about me suffering from anxiety and depression but never asked about how you feel from daily yoga)

How to progress in Paschimottanasana
Hey there! My body (also hamstrings) is quite stiff and in addition to that my legs are super long. This makes it quite challenging to progress in Paschimottanasana, even though i practice daily - which I find somewhat frustrating. What other Asana/ stretch/ modification do you recommend me to progress in Paschimottanasana?

Need advice
Hi Everyone. I’m trying to get my life back on track so I’ve come up with a routine. I’ll stay at school to revise and hour, do some yoga, then walk the dog. I’m asking for some guidance on beginners yoga. I’m 16, not very bendy nor have I done yoga before. I want to become more flexible, relax and feel good. If anyone has any beginners videos or tips please let me know.

Anybody else find it surprising how fast changes can flourish from yoga?
This is more about the physical although the mental and spiritual side applies to. Literally after 1 - 2 days of half an hour and I can see a massive improvement in my posture, my feet feel looser when I walk. When I'm putting my shoes on my leg can raise and bend no problem. I know that it takes a long ass time to see a massive change but I just find it kind of beautiful how these differences can be established so fast. With the gym for example it can take weeks to a month to actually notice a difference in strength or mass. I love the gym but I've had hormonal problems for a while now, I used to do yoga along side the gym but always dropped yoga as the workload was too much, but I'm thinning now I'm just gonna do yoga 6 days a week for a couple of months and see if that helps my hormones. All love.

Manduka slippery?
I recently just got the Manduka Prolite Yoga mat 4.7 mm and used it for the first time this morning. I found it to be a little slippery in downward dog. Is this normal for this mat? Do I need to break it in? If that’s the case, roughly how long does that take? I’m going to a hot yoga class in a week and was planning on bringing it along but am worried it will be too slippery with the heat. Thanks!
