Rescued as an orphaned young cub, Jiya has been loved and cared for by the Wildlife SOS team for over 13 years. The majestic feline isn't reluctant to pose for cameras, making her one of the most photographed leopards at MLRC. In turn, we love capturing her going about her daily routine. Jiya’s ever-enthusiastic and vivacious nature keeps her on her toes whenever the caregivers present her with meals or an enrichment. Being a skilled climber, Jiya is often spotted lazing atop the highest branches of trees and stumps, especially during daytime. Under the bright sun, her golden, rosette-patterned coat gleams as she lays around on the wooden platform enrichment. When it comes to personal hygiene, Jiya is the epitome of cleanliness. Wildlife Institute of India (WII) under the aegis of Project Elephant Division, MoEF&CC in collaboration with Uttar Pradesh Forest Department and Wildlife SOS is conducting a three-day training workshop in Agra on welfare and health aspects of managing captive elephants in India. Hosted from 12 to 14 February 2022, the workshop aims to train 24 veterinary officers from 16 states, working in and around elephant reserves.
