For those that are professional and/or career Astronomers, what is a normal day at your job like?

Is it repetitive, or inconsistent? Is it slow paced, with little time spent on the telescope (in spite of what pop culture suggests)? I just want to know; what is a usual day on the job like; if it is slow and repetitive, I would love the idea even more.
