Manet was born #OnThisDay in 1832. He was one of the first 19th-century artists to paint modern life and his work, 'Music in the Tuileries Gardens' has been described as ‘the earliest true example of modern painting in both subject matter and technique’: https://t.co/K2OqqRxLw8 https://t.co/Lg92VTkCIp

When in doubt, write it out ✍️ On #NationalHandwritingDay, enjoy this wonderfully creative example tucked into the pages of a 1620 manuscript dedicated to penmanship. Check out more writing in art (we're talking desks, inkwells, scrolls, and more!) → https://t.co/RxEosnYURV https://t.co/8hImS2nz7m

Smooth sailing from here on out ⛵ Edouard #Manet—born January 23, 1832—painted this summery scene while on vacation in the northwestern suburbs of Paris. Shown in the Salon of 1879, "Boating" was deemed "the last word in painting" by #Impressionist painter Mary Cassatt. https://t.co/uUzJV2uxSX

For 'Flags and Debris,' Doug Aitken's current exhibition at Regen Projects, the artist initiated a series of impromptu performances based on choreographies he developed working with LA Dance Project. A new multiscreen installation captures these mysterious and random encounters throughout an emptied out Los Angeles in which dancers wrapped in the artworks move through shadowland spaces like shrouded bodies in chrysalis. dougaitkenworkshop #DougAitken #FlagsandDebris #RegenProjects ladanceproject
