Birds of a feather...⁣ ⁣ #PerfectPlanet - Weather⁣ Carmine bee-eaters (Merops nubicoides) nest in the banks of the Luangwa River in Zambia, tunnelling back over a metre into the soft river sand. The clue to their diet lies in their name. Feeding predominantly on bees and other flying insects, they've learnt to be quite the aerial acrobats.⁣ ⁣ #EarthOnLocation by © Silverback Films⁣ ⁣ For more about A Perfect Planet and where to watch, click the link in our bio. ⁣⁣ .⁣ .⁣ .⁣ .⁣ #bbcearth #carminebeeeaters #beeeaters #bird #birdsofinstagram #ornithology #beautifulbirds #birdwatching #wildlife #wildlifephotography #naturephotography #amazinganimals #nature #naturelovers #earth #earthlovers

That smile though 😏 #PerfectPlanet - Oceans A marine iguana (Amblyrhynchus cristatus) warming up in the Sun on the shores of Fernandina Island, Galapagos. These highly adapted animals are the only marine lizards in the world! Feeding mostly underwater, it's important they get a good amount of time to bask in order to stay warm. #EarthOnLocation by © Ed Charles Silverback Films 2018 For more about A Perfect Planet and where to watch, click the link in our bio. ⁣ . . . . #bbcearth #marineiguana #iguana #reptilesofinstagram #reptilephotography #wildlife #wildlifephotography #naturephotography #amazinganimals #nature #naturelovers #earth #earthlovers #aperfectplanet

Fun fact, Cedar Waxwings can get drunk. That’s right, when certain berries ferment, and they create a buzzed treat. It’s often just a slight buzz, but there have been reports of waxwings getting so intoxicated they can’t fly. According to Audubon fermented blackberries, pyracantha or juniper berries, crabapples, or mountain ash fruits, are the berries that can create these flying drunks. For wildlife handling questions, please refer to gourmetbiologist post on December 15th. Video by gourmetbiologist #naturegeography

When day comes we step out of the shade, aflame and unafraid The new dawn blooms as we free it For there is always light, if only we’re brave enough to see it If only we’re brave enough to be it Words by: amandascgorman 📸: jordaninglee_photography [Image Description: A sunrise at Secret Beach in Oregon. There is a big rock in the foreground with a beach behind it. The sky is different shades of orange and purple.]
