How much should it cost to open an LLC in NYC?

I am looking at different websites, some charge nothing and just the state/county fees. Others charge more with some additional features. Then on top they quote me $700 or more to publish the LLC in newspapers. It adds up to being more than $1,000 to form an LLC. We want to sell custom made tote bags, and just want to be protected. We would be selling on Etsy and our own website. I know realistically nothing could happen by selling a bag to be concerned about to be legally protected

Is it better to get your first sales through friends and family who you help with word of mouth or from randoms your marketing is able to reach?

Over winter break I started a chalk company for rock climbing, gymnastics, and weight lifting. I currently work as a rock climbing instructor and want to tell all my coworkers to check it out and maybe contribute to my first sales. Even my mom and her friend who climb said they want to buy. Is this a healthy start to a business, surely it’ll give me a boost in sales but doesn’t help with retention at all. Do any of you have experience or advice?

Need some advice on a shitty neighbor.

Hi, I own a small bakery and I share a front door with a neighbor. For over 5 plus years, we used to never lock the front door and same with them. We would just lock our respective doors that we have once you enter through the front door. One day, my neighbor locked the door out of the blue, locking us out and we had to throw out every bread that we had prepared the day before because we could not enter the building until 10 am which is when they open. My landlord does not want to get involved, but is there any way I can ask for the damages?

The royal family assumed Harry and Meghan would never leave. Too many employers make the same mistake. @MindaZetlin https://t.co/BeWNTTyORl

best online bank for small side biz

I started a very small side business besides my brick and mortar store. The new business is just a few days per month, low amount, a few transactions. It’s more like a consulting business. I use Bank of America quite a bit for both business and personal. I started using Sofi for personal and I really like it. Unfortunately sofi doesn’t offer business accounts. I’m exploring some options for internet banks (but safe). Any recommendations?

I had to let one of our interns go and I'm not sure it was the right decision

One of our interns compeltely skipped over our training modules. I have to give him props because I didn't realize this until about 3 weeks in. Honestly, I think our training modules were so outdated and confusing so I understand. Should I have let him go?

“The fourth quarter itself was kind of unspectacular,” Future Fund Managing Partner @garyblack00 says on $TSLA earnings. “The gross margins were weak. If you look back at all of the non-recurring things in the quarter, they actually missed." https://t.co/aegvkMj9T0

Starting a business. I have Googled and searched for answers. I feel lost.

I should start off with I am new to Reddit, so please be kind. I have wanted to start my own business and have most of my business plan written out, but I genuinely struggle with creating the financial portion of it. I obviously know it will not be a small amount of money that I need, and I have little to no capital to invest. It feels like a long-distance dream, but I figured coming to Reddit couldn't hurt. Any advice or guidance will be appreciated! P.S. I have read endless articles and googled for hours and still struggle.

Should I accept money orders?

I have a client that wants to pay me with a money order. I don’t know much about them. The estimated bill will be about $2000. Why would someone want to use a money order in the first place and should I be willing to accept this as a form of payment? I’m in the service industry and would be going to this person’s house so I doubt it’s a scam but still confused. This is the first time in six years of doing business anybody has ever wanted to pay this way.

How to go about finding clients to use my service

I have been working on building a WMS (Warehouse Management System) web application to handle inventory and order management for a warehouse. WMS will be able to handle key warehouse processes such as: receiving, putaway, allocation, picking, packing, shipping, returns... etc In addition to that, i'm working on building integrations with shipping services (Fedex/UPS/USPS) & marketplace integrations (Amazon, wayfair, Shipify...) However, before deciding to spend more time on it, I wanted to get a general idea of how difficult it will be to find clients and how should I go about it. Clients will be warehouses.

How do y’all afford shipping?

I live in Canada. Was thinking of starting my own business making paracord products. Bracelets, dog collars & leashes, keychains etc. for a $10 or less product the shipping costs outweigh the product price. How do you afford it or make the product a reasonable price to be able to afford it?
