Opinion: Tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers have been rationed in five leading supermarkets since last week following a drop in supply of about half, forcing households to opt for turnips and other seasonal vegetables instead. The chagrin of British consumers has only been worsened by helpful social media users posting images of produce-laden shelves from Madrid to Kyiv and crates of fresh salad being unloaded in snowy Helsinki. What happened? Tap the link in bio to find out.

● For buyers brave enough to proceed despite 2023’s high-rates, new construction is becoming the only game in town. January was the strongest month for new home sales in the US since March 2022, writes Conor Sen. ● There are 85 million owner-occupied housing units in the US, so generally it’s easier to find an existing home to buy than a newly built one, particularly in the parts of the country that no longer do much in the way of building. But two things have changed over the past year. ● First, soaring mortgage rates have made homes less affordable, which has led to a slump in demand. And second, the millions of homeowners who locked in low mortgage rates over the last decade either can't afford or don't want to give up their cheap loans, which has led to a slump in the supply of houses for sale. ● Tap the link in our bio for more. Guests are now getting a first taste of what's on offer at the self-titled "most ultraluxury" resort in the world. Inside there are panoramic views of the Persian Gulf, seven restaurants helmed by celebrity chefs and 90 (yes, 90) official pools. Even the check-in counters and toothbrushes are gold. Apple has become the single largest creator of blue collar jobs in the electronics sector after having generated 100,000 new direct jobs in the past 19 months. They have been created by Apple’s key vendors in India and their ecosystem of component suppliers who help in the manufacture of iPhones under the government’s smartphone Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme. The vast majority of these new jobs have been created in the 19 months since the PLI scheme came into effect in August 2021. The three vendors who assemble the iPhone — Foxconn Hon Hai, Pegatron and Wistron — have collectively generated 60 per cent of the new jobs. This already exceeds their second year commitment to generate news jobs under the scheme by roughly 7,000 new jobs.
