can someone help me understand write-offs?

I use waveapps.com for my book keeping, if I use my company card to buy materials for my business and mark that transaction as a business expense in wave, is there anything else I need to do? Or is that functionally all a write-off is?

Getting paid last - do you still run payroll on yourself when you can’t afford to?

Am having some short term cash flow/liquidity problems. The business has ~ 30 days of cash flow in the bank and ~45 days worth in open invoices. I am just nervous about taking my normal pay at the moment. We have consistent work coming though (B2B service) but we are coming out of a very slow winter and our clients are NET 30-60. Does it make sense to run payroll as if I am paying myself, but simply not take the cash at the moment or should I just wait until we are a little more cash flush and pay myself more? IMO the upside to this would be keeping my payroll taxes steady, and I don’t see much of a downside. I know it evens out either way, just wondering what other people do.

Business simply for taxes

Hi All, Friend of mine says I should create an LLC simply for the purpose of writing off purchases. If I get business banking and use those funds to make purchases, for a company that doesn't actually do anything other than exist..... How does this actually save me money personally? Wouldn't I need taxable income for my write offs to work against?

Ideas for reaching new businesses/potential clients? B2B

Hey everyone, I'm a commercial and advertising photographer and most of my business is to other businesses in the forms of Headshots, Marketing Materials, Product shots, etc. One thing I have always struggled with is reaching new clients. My marketing has always been mostly passive (Word of mouth, Google page ranking, referrals) I'm trying to figure out more methods or better ways to reach out to new businesses in certain markets. Cold calling and cold emailing don't seem to work so well if I don't know who I'm looking for at a company.

Restaurant Review Website for Individual Dishes

There's an almost endless number of user submitted review platforms for restaurants, but I've never seen any that allow for reviews of individual dishes. Would it be worthwhile to create a Yelp style website that fills this niche? It could be useful for people that want input on what to order at a restaurant or foodies seeking out highly rated dishes near them. I'm wondering if it will be too hard to get a high enough volume of users and reviews for the site to be useful.

Costa Rica is now almost entirely powered by renewable sources and it aims to be the world’s first carbon-neutral country. But things aren't straightforward: a hot property market is creating problems for the rainforests — and driving up prices for locals https://t.co/JkkMEfJGKE

Where to start when trying to find a market/pop-up to sell at?

I’ve been making polymer clay things for over a decade now, but it was always more of a hobby rather than an actual business. Since this is the one hobby I’ve always been consistent with and truly enjoy, I want to create things for others to purchase and enjoy as well. I’m currently a college students, and I feel like there are a lot of opportunities within my city to sell at markets or pop-ups, but I have no idea where to start or who to contact and on what platform. I’m sure contacting people through Instagram is probably a good option, but I don’t know who/what to search for to contact. I really want to sell my creations in-person rather than relying solely on Etsy (I used to sell on Etsy and literally made 1 sale). Please let me know if anyone has any advice!

SBA Loan approval amount?

Hello there! My husband and I are wanting to purchase an existing small business in the next 3-5 years. We’re still in process of saving for a down payment but are a bit of a loss as to what to expect in terms of what size businesses we could possibly get approved for. Is it possible to be approved for a $1M plus SBA loan with 20% down as first time business owners? I’m sure the answer will be varying levels of “it depends”, I’m just curious if that’s just completely out of the question or if there’s a range we should aim for? Thanks in advance!

Business idea: we sell shifts.

Hello people of Reddit, i have a business proposal. What if we create a business where we get jobs, take all or most of the shifts, and sell the shifts to the unemployed. Wouldn’t that be a great idea? What do you think of the business proposal?

Female artist looking to grow her small business

Hey Reddit people! I fold fabric up into different shapes and designs with my hands, then apply dye! Yup I'm a full time Tie Dye Artist!! All done by hand! I absolutely love what I do. I am here to broaden my horizons on Reddit in hopes to reach more people, receive feedback, tips, and advice to grow my small business! We all love authentic hand made products, especially TieDye! I am looking to take some of my works of art and turn them into Sublimation prints on various items that I typically wouldn't be able to dye designs on, such as socks, hats, backpacks, waterproof blankets, high quality spandex yoga pants.. and so on. The options are endless and I am ready to get started! does anyone have advice on either how to grow my shop on etsy, how to reach a larger organic following, or ways to turn photos of my work into other creations? Thanks mate in advance, hope you enjoy these samples of my work from my butterfly collection!
