buying equipment for new business.

Starting my new/1st business in the construction trade I need to purchase some equipment for the business. QUESTION IS: DO I JUST BUY THE EQUIPMENT W/ MY PERSONAL CASH? (About 10k). Or is there a different process I should consider? I know nothing About running a business and will be learning as I go.

Employee gave her 2 weeks yesterday and is asking to take PTO next week. What should I do?

Her role has becoming stagnant and dissolving and as a business we are revisiting how this department is set up, so by the time she’s done her two week or rather we’ll before, we won’t have much left to do, I need about 2-3 days out of her. Should I just sever the limb here or drag it out and honor her PTO.

Can two companies have two different 401k plans?

Thanks in advance. I have had a service company for over twenty years. I am currently at about 96 employees and I offer, among many benefits, a 401k plan with a match etc. I own that company 100%. I am starting a separate company to do a different task. It has different EIN number, etc etc. The only relationship is that I own it also, 100% It will likely have only 3-7 highly compensated employees. (100-400 k per year). I don't want to use the same benefits plan, particularly the 401k match. I think I am offering top dollar and I think some of the people will have another job. I am ok with that. My 401k admin says the plans MUST be identical, because I own both. Is that true??

Photo of me on business card for gutter/roof cleaning?

I am currently in the process of starting a roof and gutter cleaning business and am at the point where I need business cards. Should I add a headshot of myself? I know realtors do this but I’m not sure if it would be appropriate for this kind of service. I will be the only person doing work for the business. Any information is appreciated.

What are some reasons to use a domain email address instead of a gmail account?

I'm trying to explain to our office manager why giving out our old gmail address is a bad idea. We pay for Google Workspace, and right now, what she has been doing is giving out the old gmail address and having that gmail forward EVERYTHING it receives to her new work email address, which has our domain name. This is bad for security reasons of course, because if we lose access to that email, we can't easily recover it like we can a google workspace account. What are some other reasons? I need a wide variety in order to convince her.

Multiple LLC or Umbrella?

I'm new to getting a business started and needing advice. I have an LLC approved and it's set up as providing marketing and consultation services (mainly graphic design and social media marketing) but I haven't launched anything yet. Life is pulling me into other directions, like craft shows and sustainability programs. All a bit random. Can I umbrella all side hustles as "owned" by my original LLC? Or do I need to own multiple LLCs and keep it all separate?

How to compensate a small business loan cosigner?

I'm working with a business partner to create a business. Her credit is being repaired after she got in the hole during cancer treatment. It's decent and rising but not fast enough. Mine is nil, like they don't even have a number because I don't use credit cards or anything that would contribute to the score. I do have information on the report showing I've paid off my student loans and I'm personally debt free. My life partner is very well paid, has made a lot of good investments and great credit and generally a banker's dream client. He is willing to cosign for a our small business loan and we're trying to figure out how to compensate him for that? We're looking for suggestions for what you've seen work/not work. TIA!

Security Cameras

Hello, I am looking for easy to install security cameras for my business. We are near the end of our lease, so I do not want a hard install system. Basically something that could be used at someone's home. We operate a service business so it's to keep an eye on equipment storage and vehicle entrance. I need 1 outdoor and 2 indoor. All cameras need to be battery operated, remote access with phone, and ideally, the batteries are swappable. I was looking into Arlo, but not pleased when I found out they have stopped supporting some of their older cameras.

My biz currently works off commissions and have been accepting cash, venmo, PayPal. I need to now accept credit cards. How should I go about this?

I want to purchase a “clover” or “square” credit card reader for pop up shops and markets. Do you guys have recommendations? And do these go with an application in my phone? I’m a little intimidated.

Who here tracks Customer Acquisition Cost, and how?

I see CAC asked about all the time on Shark Tank. The vast majority of our customers have been coming to us for a long time and we don't currently track them. I've been looking into advertising but would like to know if I'm getting a good return on that investment. Who tracks CAC that has an established business?

Sole proprietorship?

Hey guys, Me and my wife just took over a buisness, and I'm trying to figure out if we're considered a sole proprietorship. On the Dba paperwork it's stated "married couple". So we can't be considered sole proprietorship?? How would I find this out ?
