How long did it take you to be a pro?

I feel like I'm still just sorta winging it all the time. Systems are not in place cause I don't have systems in place. How long did it take for you to not be behind in your business and to be ahead of it?

Reporting independent contractor income quarterly -- or not?

I have an LLC in Virginia and want to start paying taxes quarterly on earned income. I hire several independent contractors throughout the year. My question is this: do these contractors also need quarterly 1099s? I am new to this, and I'm imagining that when I fill out a schedule C I will need to put down income and expenses incurred, and that income that I pay out will fall under "Expenses" -- and I will need to show where that money is going -- but maybe I don't need to worry about this until the end of the year? Can anyone recommend some good reading resources so I can get better educated on all of this? Many thanks.

Forming and LLC while working full-time somewhere else

Not a small business owner (yet) I made some digital signs for where I work. I branded them with Coke (the people that paid for the signs) and after a visit today they said they would love to commission me to make signs for their other stores, but I'd need to be an LLC While I'd love that do this, I don't want to mess up my finances. I get health insurance through the marketplace, and work full time at my current job. I know being self employed comes with some me changes that how taxes and stuff are done, but I don't know how it would effect me I would still be working full-time at my current job This LLC would make nowhere near the same amount of money my full-time job does Will making an LLC for essential a commission based hobby job mess me up?

Let’s say you want to use a material/item/software created by a company to make the product you’re selling. What would be the best way to work out a deal with them? How would this typically be done?

What the title says! I’m dipping my toes into an idea, and need to hear from those who are more knowledgeable than I am.

Very basic web based time punch system?

Our business only has about 18 employees. For years we’ve used very old software called TimeQplus installed on each computer. We now have 3 employees working remotely. We want to go with something the employees can use to punch in and out from their computers that would be web or cloud based. We don’t need to track shifts, jobs, schedules…etc. Just a simple punch in and out, timesheets, and admin access to review and edit time sheets. That’s it. It seems everything I have seen online is way too complicated. Any suggestions?

Should discounts be given before or after taxes?

As the title states. I use quickbooks to send my invoices to my clients. Is it better to apply a discount before or after taxes? As I am given that option when sending out invoices in quickbooks. TIA!

Does a staffing agency need to be licensed in New York?

I'm based in Michigan running a small engineering and skilled trades staffing agency. I have a client looking to hire 2 employees in New York ideally on a contract to hire basis. I was looking into what it would take to get started in New York and came across a DOL requirement that staffing agencies have to be licensed... but there are only 74 staffing agencies listed on their website as being licensed, but many many more then I see on Linked In. Are there certain staffing agencies that don't need to be licensed (i.e. only applies to healthcare)? Does only having two employees in New York make it a non issue based on low hiring volume?

Help with Google Business Profile?

Would anyone know why my business profile doesn’t appear in local areas when I search it? It appears in my city but not near any local towns and I have my locations tags set to all the nearby areas. (Did just start it within a few weeks)

ISO recommendations for suppliers

Hi guys! I'm planning to open a small business and I am overwhelmed with all of the things that need to be done. For example, ordering an exterior sign, an interior sign, lighting, promotional materials, furniture, wholesale art supplies etc. I'm hoping that you can save me some time (or money!) by directing me to your favorite suppliers or help me avoid mistakes that you've made trying vendors out that didn't end up working for you. I'm in Hawaii so sometimes I'm limited on choices due to shipping not being available or high shipping costs. It's an Art studio. Thank you in advance for your help!

DoorDash and Grubhub. Does anyone have experience with them?

Small Liquor store: I am thinking of adding delivery with DoorDash and/or GrubHub. I would love some insight from those who have used it or have considered using and have declined. DoorDash charges 15%, 25%, and 30% depending what tier you choose. Wow. That wipes out almost the entire profit. I don't have all of the GrubHub numbers yet. Thoughts?
